Do you have a speed controller? My old Delta 1X30 is a single speed and it seems to be easy to blue the tip with finer grit belts if I'm not careful. Just being nosey now. Where do you get your belts? 👍🍻

@@williamemerson1799 I do not. I tried a speed controller early on because I wanted the speed to be slower. But with some practice and an extremely light hand I never blued a tip. I've seen it happen many times though. I'm not using the same belts in this video as I am currently. But the ones I use now are from red label abrasives. I made a video on the belts 😊 I really like them!

can you put a kill a watt on the bucktool slow speed and find out what peak draw is? i am considering it for mobile sharpening and this number would help determine if it would work with my battery pack.
@Samsmobilesharpening
@Samsmobilesharpening Ай бұрын
@@cpen9667 unfortunately I do not quite understand your question. But I have powered it from a battery pack. And the max draw I saw was 200w. But in theory the max it can draw is 120v 2.1amps. And to get the watts needed you multiply the volts times the watts. So the max it would draw is 252watts. In theory. I also have run it on my 1000w peak gas generator. No problems at all. That has a running 800 watts. Hopefully that answers your question.
@cpen9667

@@Samsmobilesharpening so i have a 1x30 with a sewing machine motor and max draw in use is 33w. I have a WEN (tormek knock off) and max draw in use is 87w. i also have a delta variable speed bench grinder and max draw is 748w. when these items are plugged into a kill a watt device, you can see their actual wattage draw at any given time. if you ran it off the 200w battery pack, i suspect it's peak draw is below 200w.
@Samsmobilesharpening
@Samsmobilesharpening Ай бұрын
@ didn’t even know there was such a device for power draw. But hey you learn something new everyday. The battery pack I had was a 350wh but printed on the machine is the power requirements. Thankfully this seems to be decent enough steel to take a 15° per side edge. I have one that I bought a while ago that I sharpened at 10° per side just to see what it would do. But yes I agree too acute might cause the edge not to be able to hold itself up. Thusly failing prematurely.
