Transforming Text to playable 3D Character: Genie to Unreal Engine

This video shows you how you can generate a 3D character using a new Genie AI application and how you can then turn 3D model to a playable Game Chareacter for the Unreal Game engine. Luma AI has produced this Genie for Discord service and it is very popular new AI tool at the moment. Using it, Blender and Accurig it is possible to make 3D characters from Genie models, rig them and bring them to the Game Engine so that you can start play a game with it.

A good tip for characters(hands are not good) ,make the character and then another separate prompt only a hand or a glove with 5 fingers and then add it in blender. Wonderfull results.

somehow the texture does not appear in blender. When I look in the UV Map, the map is empty. I've got Blender 2.80. Does someone have an Idea why this could be?

Ok it's a working character but the topology is a mess, is there any way to get a decent topology out of it?

In the newest version of Genie you ar able to create bit better topology for 3D mesh. Retopology function will turn triangle ploygon to quad polugons. Test it in luma ai pages. It works now over there without the discord.

It is great! Good team work of human and AI. But i think it is too many steps=) Why you can't do the same by simply drug and drop? it is simple few steps that will be similar for every next model... i think they must give us a botton to import model in one-two click=)

Instead of just making a game with AI generated assets it would be cool if certain assets could be modified by the player with text prompts, like customizing how your character looks like. But there would need to be some limits and guidelines so that the newly generated material would fit within the predetermined aspects of the game (for example character rigging, item functionality etc).

Yes. I have mac mini as my second computer, but these were running from my PC with RTX 3070 GPU.

This will be very impressive once someone comes up with an AI that creates textures for objects based on inputted base color. So you input this model with its base color into the AI, it gets a general understanding of what it's supposed to look like, then gives you your base color, roughness, metallic, normal, etc.

With such a grid of polygons, hello glitches and brakes. Still, you need to do repotology by hand, correct crooked texturing, and much more. Until it takes away the work of 3D designers.

New version of Genie works now directly from Luma.ai web pages. You do not need discord any more. And the new system has quite good retopology system build into it. And yes, this is not going to take works away from anybody.
