Transforming the Switch Dock

The Nintendo Switch is awesome, but the dock is just to big to sit in front of my tv and its a hassle to travel with. In this video I attempt to shrink the dock to solve all of my problems, and hopefully yours as well.

FYI this dock now comes with an extra screwdriver (three total) that works better on the usb-c port and it comes with rubber feet.

The Switch handheld contains all of the hardware, the only difference is that when you're running in portable mode, the CPU and GPU speeds are throttled down in order to maintain battery life. If you have a homebrewed Switch, you can even run it in docked mode in your hands (at a significant penalty to battery life, of course).

I am considering to buy this dock shell, but am a bit skeptical whether the vents on the back of the dock are enough to keep it cool...or doesn't it heat that much in the smaller shell?

Thanks to watching this video i doubt i will down size my dock. Its a verry good video dont get me wrong. Just u show in detail how to strip the plastics. After seeing this video i have found the culprit scratching everyones switch. Its 2 little plastic build ups on the edges. So what i was thinking is if i strip it to the point where you removed the Cport i can cover those plastic pillars with either ULD EVA or maybe Poron to soften them up. I love my dock coz its the Pokemon one so now i know how to safely strip it i can use it for the first time without worrying about scratches. Cheers dude. I also wanna see ya do elite joycons hahahaa.

The dock is smaller than the switch so the console is blocking part of the display not the dock.

use the C stick from the 3dsXL instead of a Dpad and also flip the stick and buttons on the right joycon so its actually easy to use

I would recommend no to use this dock, because how the USB is set up, you can break the port really easy, that is why Nintendo made the mechanism to protect the port

You don't really have to worry about the Switch ovwr-heating, it can take up to 166° in heat until it goes into emergency shut down

now that 3rd party mini docks are about to hit the market no point to tear down the orignal dock and buy a shell to reassemble, but helpful video for those that want to go this route

ValhallaOutcast yeah if you like paying like 60 plus dollars for a secondary dock... Or you could buy this piece from AliExpress like I just did, do a little bit of disassembly and have something just as good or better for a fraction of the price.

cheesewheel you're wrong, there are reports of 3rd party docks bricking Switches. Also, this a great and cheao alternative. I'd rather use Nintendo's official dock and place the components in a smaller empty dock like in the video. This video is great.

juan g I imagine it's stuck because you used your shield too much in Zelda or roll/backflip/crouch etc. In Mario Odyssey same thing happened to my joycon I don't know how to fix it maybe I'll try replacing the springs

I would ever do that on my dock... Don't you see it is not secured at all ? It looks like your USB-C port is not aligned with the one of the Switch : this is gonna do some damage to your Switch, in less than one year the port is broken for sure.

Let's be real, no one likes that shit dock. My tablet is already scratched and it's my second one as of release date. They didn't transfer my 265 hours of Botw and I've done everything twice... Not sending current one in until there is a way to transfer saves to secure them because Nintendo is being stupid.
