Transgender Affirmation: Responding to Christian Objections

Some Christians object to affirming transgender people. Why? What does the Bible say that would lead us to believe that being transgender is a sin? Nothing. Even though the Bible has nothing to say on this issue, there are some common objections raised that I will respond to in this video.

Rebekah, I gotta give you credit for always speaking your mind - no matter how "controversial" you know it'll be. You know being a young earth creationist will get you in hot water with atheists, and you know supporting the LGBTQ plus will get you in hot water with Christians. Yet you're always honest with being true to yourself - and that's all I personally ever look for in a person (even if the person is vile and all that may entail). Take this however you will, but you're far more of a humanist than Richard Dawkins (as far as trans people go). And despite what all the whiny atheists say, I'm glad you're on what I consider to be the right side of history.

Hi! Thanks for your question. I don't think it is a sin to have a tattoo. There was a restriction against tattoos in the covenant God made with Israel. There is no restriction on tattoos in the covenant that God made with us through Christ.

If anyone of LGBT searching the right church - PLEASE DON'T go to the LGBT affirming churches - GO to the church which is teaching the Word of God (Bible) in its fullness. If you want to know who God really is and how loving he is, pray & seek and you will find. There are many many testimonies of people out of the LGBT (even when they were in the LGBT lifestyle and also following Christ) and they are amazing how God transformed their lives completely! The recent one I listened to was on @MichaelKnowles show about a couple who were following Christ as a trans man and gay man and God called them out of that, now they live as woman and man, have child (which she all glory to God could carry and deliver naturally) and expecting another! God doesn't call us to live as we were born, God calls us to be reborn in Him and to be holy.

Hi Sara! Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this. I'm happy for the couple experiencing their second child. I hope you will consider that not everyone has that type of experience. There are some people who pray for years for God to change them from being gay, and they don't experience a transformation. Could it be that everyone's story is different, and that there are some very godly LGBT people who are not trying to change? If you visit an LGBT affirming church, you might meet some!

@@BreadofLifeChannel Hi, thank you for your response. Unfortunately I am from Slovakia, we don't have those type of churches here.... But I have to push back on your answer. I know personally few of gay people who because of their SSA decided to stay celibate for they cherish their relationship with Christ more then their sexuality. I agree - many people have completely different experiences and different stories. But if you say "Because you still have SSA and God didn't "heal" you from that, that's okay, you can act on it" is like saying "You still have huge cravings for food and even after you tried several diets and prayed about it but you still have those cravings, thats okay, you can stay gluttonous". It is not loving to say that to people, to encourage them to stay in sin because "poor they, they just have that craving, so let them be who they are" and even encourage them to go to a type of church where they are encouraged to do it. I ephasise once again - God wants us to be reborn and to be holy, not okay to stay how we are, just because we were born like it. Is it hard? It's frickin hard and I can't imagine someone going through that. I have many friends (homosexual or heterosexual) who live their lives without a spouse ans its very very hard. I am acknowledging that. But I choose to listen to them, pray for them and carry that burden with them. A life for Christ is not easy. But Christ is more sufficient then any kind of relationship human can ever have.

We all have our struggles (as I shared in a previous comment all have their own cross to carry and life with Christ is not easy). However I need to point out that I think those people need to realize one day that that is not the lifestyle God intended for them to lead.

Hi Sara! I agree with you that we should be willing to resist temptation and give up anything that the Lord is asking us to give up. Many things that we desire are sinful, harmful, and should be avoided. But the question we must wrestle with is whether or not the Lord is asking LGBTQ people to resist their feelings. I don't believe God is asking that. Of course, there are certain expressions of sexuality that God is asking all of us to avoid because they are harmful to us and to other people. But that is why we have to ask: What makes something sinful? What does God want for humanity? Some people believe that the few places in the Bible that mention homosexuality are sufficient for us to understand God's will for gay people. I find those passages insufficient, because they do not speak about the experience of being gay and loving God. They only speak about the experience of people who have forsaken God and entered into a life of idolatry and lust. Thanks again!

Post op transexual woman because Gender Doesn't Trans. Heterosexual because I know what fits and what doesn't. Happy because God gave my surgeon the skills to help.

I feel that there is a huge amount of cognitive dissonance on this subject. It's like we don't want to really see what is being done. To unsuspecting children is bad enough, but I also think for adults who consent to this there is clear spiritual damage that is not being addressed, that would best be healed, not by doctors-not by wordly means-, but by reception of the eucharist and the loving guidance of one's spiritual father.

Don't even bother. Persons who think that they know exactly what God's truth is will never give you an intellectual, honest answer. They just like to speak for God and feel superior to all others because they think that they know it all. There is no point in speaking with such a person.

The numbers I have heard and please correct this Bre is 2% Detransition but 80 percent of those say they only Detransitioned because of bullying and not regret of the surgery itself.

False. Detrans numbers are constantly rising. The reason you don’t know about this is bc dedicated clinics won’t share their data or won’t even follow up the ppl they were supposed to help. This is what happens when you design a trend through corporate & institutional ideological capture, ask kids to self diagnose & thus create thousands of false positives. Don’t trust « gender studies », they spread phony science.

Please also remember to educate Christians who do not embrace and affirm Polyamorous people and who oppose polyamorous marriage. We are born polyamorous and we cannot just 'choose' to only love or have sexual relations with one other person. I am a man who cannot limit my love to only one woman and I will always have more than one woman as my lovers and this is both natural and right in the eyes of God.

Yes, ALL of the patriarchs of the old testament were polygamists, but that WASN'T a good thing, and it is intentionally contrasted by ISAAC who was the one patriarch who WAS faithful to and loved his wife, precisely because he was the forerunner of Christ. He modeled the chastity and faithfulness of Christ to his bride: the church.
