Thank you for all your information I'm going to work on a 4F27E. I got both shift kits one Ford 4F27E FN4A-EL J39A Transmission Superior Shift Kit and TransGo Shift Kit 4F27E Ford. The issue I'm having is when I'm at complete stop in drive. The van rav up but don't move until I shift to drive 2 then once I'm moving I can shift back to drive and everything works will till I slow down to less then 15 miles then it rev up and van don't move then I down shift to drive 2

Ok so couple of major areas of concern on the 4f27e is the servo bore and the pr valve I would be going over the valvebody with a fine tooth comb and if you haven't already bore and sleeve that servo

Thank you Yes I did the servo pump sleeve on it and install all new clutch band also replace the trans pump as well. But I'll drop the pan and go thru it and check everything I can with it still in my van

Also did you check for wear in the direct clutch drum

No I didn't I think I'm going to go get another transmission from the junk yard and rebuild it up to all the right specs.

Yes, the teflon rings will hold a higher pressure much better than the steel or those plastic ones.

Another great video, and great info for anyone thinking about upgrading their 48RE. So what do you do if someone with say a 8L90 or 6F50 wants firmer shifts or quicker downshifts, given that the TCM controls just about everything on these newer models? Can the TCM parameters be modified in the same way you'd tweak the air/fuel ratio map in a PCM?

They can be but I don't like to do it that way personally I like to use sonnax products in both of those units and I also have my own custom design of parts I use in conjunction to trans tubing depending on the application and the horse power levels

I’ve got a problem with a 48RE where it shifts back and forth between 3rd and 4th during a full throttle up shift. I checked Rail pressures, Grounds, cleaned speed sensors, I got a Transgo kit while I had the valve body out, all new shift solenoids, harness, governor pressure solenoid and pressure sensor. Valve body was fully taken apart and cleaned during this process and torqued correctly going back together. All bolts were installed in there correct position and it fixed a third gear shift issue the truck was having. All the valves looked like they were in good shape. I know governor pressure shouldn’t have anything to do with 4th but it does sit a little low from desired. It tracks perfectly with a mechanical gauge all the way to 105-110 but beyond that desired goes to 127 which I don’t know if that should be a concern. Help would be very much appreciated

Seems TransGo did a really thorough job with this particular transmission vs. Superior. However, I am finding that for the Acura B7WA TransGo kit has less parts and the write up for the TransGo kit states that the TransGo kit doesn't take care of as many symptoms as the Superior TransLab kit which has more components. 🤷🏼‍♂️

@@expressautotransmissiondav4207 I was looking at Sonnax !! And I prefer Sonnax !! But they make it so complicated for the Acura transmissions. 🤣😂 And one of the clutch pressure valves requires a Sonnax special tool jig to drill the check valve bore oversized to accept the Sonnax special valve / possibly sleeve too ?

@Mr_BUSINESS_24_7 yep. I have used the sonnax kit several times and bought the reamers to match.my preference is the translab lol. Follow the directions and definitely read their extra literature on trans repairs and solutions. They have many many hours of research in the product.

I planned on replacing the sprag and checking for grooves in the valve body case among other things that was covered in the B7WA tear down and inspect video by the gentlemen who uses the TransGo kit. I just have to research the best master overhaul kit and best friction plates to use. I see Exidy offers friction plates and Raybestos. Seems Transtar is the best overhaul kit. But I'm not entirely sure. Also planed on retrofitting the external transmission filter and external transmission oil cooler and using the Sonnax valve body plugs.

so i was working on my valve body the other day and lost the accumulator transfer plate, is it fine that i install everything back too how it was without the transfer plate in between the accumulator and valve body and drive it until my new kit comes in and i can throw the plate back in?

4L60E with no 1,3 or OD. Any ideas with the problem. A friend overhauled it and thats his end result.

I have used them in a few. I personally did not like the results of the kit. The issues I had with the kit were only in higher horse power applications. Mainly a flair concern under wide open throttle or something of that nature. I do not have any issues with the design of the product but personally feel the superior kit provides enough updates for this unit. As I stated this is my opinion only.
