I'm a Corpsman and at a crossroads in my Naval Career. C-School and obli-serv another contract or get out and go to school to becoming a PA. I've been hesitant because I'm not confident in being able to succeed in the field. Thank you for your perspective, it has definitely makes me feel motivated in taking the journey

Good videos man! I’m joining the army and plan on doing undergrad while active duty and then transitioning into PA after. Hopefully I only have to kill 4-6 years active to finish a 4 year degree. While also hopefully getting my patient hours as a combat medic. 2 birds with 1 stone.

That is definitely a good path! Wish I did medic so I would’ve had a lot of patient care hours. Good luck 💪🏻

Hey 👋🏻 if you want/need any feedback in your resume feel free to email it to me kdelvec1@kent.edu Also volunteer hours won’t count as patient care hours, but they are good to come across PAs that you could ask to shadow if you need shadowing hours!

Enjoyed your video, I'm a veteran about to apply to PA school and go through the CASPA process. I was a combat medic with lots of hours and PA shadowing hours and LOR's from the PA's. I had to go back to school to improve my GPA because I sucked the first time I went to college and finished with a 2.6 . Now I have a overall 3.0 and Science GPA of 4.0. Can't deny I'm nervous, like you I don't have anyone who has been through this process. Idk just looking for a little advise or what you think my chances are. Always looking to improve. Thanks

Great video! I’m currently in the Navy and aspiring to become a PA. Is there any rules against tattoos for PA’s?

Not that I am aware of. There was a girl with a full sleeve in our program and there wasn’t any issues. There is also an NP at my job with full sleeves and a neck tattoo! I think places are starting to become more relaxed with tattoos thankfully.

I too did not take school seriously when I was in grade school, and I think my GPA may be even lower than yours with that being said what do you suggest my major in? What would help me get most if not all of the prerequisites that may be needed.

You could do a traditional biology with concentration in pre-med or do what I did and switch to public health with concentration in pre-med. It’s an easier major but allows you to spend more time on other important parts on the application other than classes like volunteering and patient care hours. Make sure you look at each individual school’s requirements before you make any big decisions on major because some programs require more than others!

sooo uhhhh.... does the 9/11 gi bill cover your PA school? or does it depends how much the PA school is

I guess it depends on several things. A couple of them being if you already have an undergraduate degree that you didn’t use the 9/11 for then you could use it for PA school, the price of the PA school, if you have 100% of your 9/11 (sometimes if you don’t complete your contract in the service you will only get a percentage). I personally used the 9/11 for my undergraduate and then used Voc rehab (which I believe is going by a different name now “Veteran Readiness & Employment Chapter 31”. I would recommend you talk with a counselor at the VA to discuss your options and the best plan of action to maximize your benefits!

Can I ask, does the military pay for it??
@keldendelvecchio6932
@keldendelvecchio6932 Жыл бұрын
I got my undergrad paid for with the post 9/11 GI bill and my Masters paid for with the VOC Rehab GI bill. Everyone that completes their active duty contract and gets honorably discharged qualifies for the post 9/11 GI bill. For VOC Rehab there are different qualifications though - you need a certain disability rating and other criteria
