Very informative and the point of view review is just what I needed. About to buy 2 pairs and were going to go with Gen S and Transition but now will go with XTRActive and Transition. Also, was going with Graphite Green XTRActive but agree Brown feels more soothing. Thank you, you smashed it with this video! The Gen S vs XTRActive is also very helpful!

Thanks! I went with brown xtractive prescriptions. And dark enough in the car. I love them!

Excellent video showing real world views of both lenses. I initially went for Drivewear lenses however because they are polarised I cannot see my LCD dash display clearly. So Bought the XTRActive grey lens version, far superior and it goes dark in the car, far darker than the Brown version you demonstrated.

That's good to know. I may have to compare both Grey and Brown in the car next.

Yep! I did the same thing, but went with brown xtractive prescriptions. And just dark enough in the car. Love them!

Was hoping you would include the Transitions Extra Active w/stylized mirror? And I have heard through Chat GPT some labs can apply a Stylized mirror on Drivewear?? Lastly to the person who mentioned they can't read their LCD display with the Drivewear. Cock your head slightly left or right and you will be able to see it fine.

Always bringing informative vids. I'm using xtractive dor for driving and that tint is accurate. It's better than clear i had w regular transistions. I may go for a pair of drivewear but single vision instead of progressive

Very informative. As an FYI, the side windows in vehicles typically do not block UV like the front windshield does.

Great comparison! Thank you. Do you have a comparison between Transitions Xtractive vs. Xtractive Polarized (ie. indoors, outside and in the car)? For example, I noticed with the Xtractive in this video, the glare/reflection from the dash onto the windshield is still present. Would the polarization in an Xtractive Polarized glasses be activated enough to noticeably reduce the dash’s reflection onto the windshield? Also, I’ve heard the Xtractive (New Generation) gets darker than Xtractive Polarized but is it actually noticeable in practice (outdoors and in the car)? Thank you.
@HicksBrunsonEyewear4 күн бұрын
Thank you! I do not have that comparison, but I need to create some content around it for the reasons that you mention. Based on my experience I do not believe XA Polarized would noticeably reduce the glare in the car. I might be wrong, but I don't think I'm wrong. I also believe based on my own observations that XA New Gen gets darker than XA Polarized.

Good day! Is it good enough to use Transitions drivewear lenses for nighttime driving?
@HicksBrunsonEyewear14 күн бұрын
No, that is not a good idea. They are too dark to drive at night.
@razeliezerbenmoshe8052Ай бұрын
can you poot an anti-reflective coating like for night driving on the extra active and will it still darken from sunlight in the care and so no?
@HicksBrunsonEyewearАй бұрын
Yes, and yes. The anti-reflective coating will not hinder its ability to darken and for that reason one should pretty much always have an anti-reflective coating for better visual clarity day and night.

Thanks a lot for this helpful video. Also, regarding the XTRActive, is there a difference for night driving, compared to regular lenses (e.g. reduced glare)?
@HicksBrunsonEyewear2 ай бұрын
There is not a difference that I have ever noticed at night. Just be sure you have a premium anti-reflective coating for best night clarity.

Nice. Been waiting for drivewear review to compare it to xtractive and xtractive polarized. Just found out last week that essilor doesn't bring in their drivewear line here in Indonesia. But i found another brand, illustro, have them. Probably licenced from essilor... But the price thou, it is twice compared to xtractive, xtractive polarized, on xperio (polarized sunglasses lens)... I ended up having xperio for driving glasses. A permanent polarized sunglass for driving... Thanks for the review...

Hi Daniel. I have been considering to buy a Drivewear lens when I'm travel to EEUU, since in my country doesn't exist, neither trivex material. But I'm wondering some things about it. First. Which anti-reflective it's better to paired with for driving and dazzeling? I know it can be paired with Crizal Sapphire AR or Sunshield UV. But can be paired with others brands anti-reflective? And for last. I want to paired with a mirror coating. I know that Gold and Red mirror shift colour toward blue. Blue shift colours toward Orange and red. Green mirror shift colour toward a fucsia or pink. And silver darker the actual colour without shifting it. I need to know what mirror could fit me better. Let me tell you something about my taste when the matter it's about driving. I have try grey, Brown and orange tint for sunglasses. And I prefer by far the orange one. It's help me a lot when it shift colours of others cars light heading to me. And with excessive bright Days. Except for driving towards the Sun because I can't buy good prescription glasses with mirror in here. What would you recommend to me? Greetings
@HicksBrunsonEyewear2 ай бұрын
Hello Max. I do not wear a mirror coating on my Drivewear lenses. I can only tell you from my own experience that I prefer Crizal Sapphire for my coating of choice. The clarity is amazing. My co-worker wears a flash gold mirror on her Driverwear lenses, and she really like them. The Gold Mirror looks quite nice as well.

Which xtractive Transitions are you showing? I bought the Polarized version which did darken somewhat behind the wheel, but not enough. They won't polarize until fully darkened, so pointless in the car in my opinion. I returned them for the New Generation lenses and was surprised at how much darker they turned while driving on a sunny morning. I do still think that there will be a need for a consistently darker & polarized lens, so I am having a sunglass clip made for them while they are also being tinted to blend the residual "Hint of Tint" to a nicer color than (ugh) grey. I have spent hours upon hours in search of an in-car comparison of the New Generation and the Polarized lenses, but couldn't find anything. Could you please show that, too? In my research, I have learned way more about Transitions, tint, style and flash mirrors than I ever thought I needed to know! Thank you for your videos!
@HicksBrunsonEyewear3 ай бұрын
Hi Brenda. I am not showing the XTRActive Polarized in this video. I am showing the XA New Gen Brown. Youn and others have observed the XA Polarized does not appear to get as dark as XA Non Polarized, but that is all anecdotal. I have no idea what the true percentage comparisons are, but I believe there is a difference.
@brendaromero45813 ай бұрын
@HicksBrunsonEyewear Thank you for your response. Two months ago I had no idea that there were so many choices... I just always ordered brown Transitions for everyday wear and had a separate pair of clear glasses with a clip. This time around I'll end up with 3 separate pairs.

I have eyeglasses with both Transitions XA and DW lenses. IMO, XA lenses are essentially worthless as sunglasses when driving. It’s like wearing glasses with lightly tinted lenses. DW lenses are better, but nothing beats a pair of standard polarized sunglasses for bright light protection while driving.
@HicksBrunsonEyewear3 ай бұрын
I used to think XTRActive were worthless, but I have found that the new Generation is moderately helpful for me, but as they say individual results will vary. As I said in the video, XA his nowhere near a true sunglass or Drivewear, but some tint is better than no tint in my experience.
@GavinKimpton-q2i3 ай бұрын
You should have used Xtractive Grey. They are darker. Also if you use a sunglass frame, not a spectacle frame. It is very good in a car. Level 2 does a very good job.
@HicksBrunsonEyewear2 ай бұрын
Thanks for the tip! I'll be sure to do a video on Xtractive Grey. For me personally I just really prefer the visual experience of the Brown color.
@nijadanabtawi5746Ай бұрын
not sure i follow...so you're recommending a sunglass frame+ xtractive grey or eyeglasses frame+xtractive grey ?
@Coldgecko9 күн бұрын
I have multiple drivewear, xtractive and regular sunglasses. I do drive a lot. I find if I wear regular sunglasses that are real dark -- I get more tired on longer trips. Wearing drivewear, your eyes are more relaxed. Xtractive are useless... Not buy the BS... They are useless in a car and the marketing is overblown. My vote always for longer trips in all weather is drivewear. When walking outside, I go with regular sunglasses because they get much darker than my xtractive. If I know that I am going inside and outside on sunny days and dont want to haul two pair -- then its xtractive. as for Gen8 -- I cant fund a huge benefit... Outside they dont get dark enough and inside they are just regular glasses. I wear sunglasses to get dark so after tons of pair of Gen7 and Gen8 -- I ditch them and only use for indoors. .
@HicksBrunsonEyewear7 күн бұрын
It sounds like you have found the right combination of glasses that work perfectly for you! I tend to agree that for me personally I prefer Drivewear or sunglasses when driving especially longer drives, but XTRActive work quite for those who are not as fully sunglasses dependent while driving.
