Transmission Fluid Replacement

In this video i show you, how to replace the Transmission Fluid with simple means. The most important thing is, to do that when the Engine and the Gearbox are hot. So it´s easier to drain the Fluid and you get the most of the dirt out of your Gearbox.

Hi, Thanks for the great video and help. Got this car , 1.3 petrol with automatic transmission. what type of oil. also want to show you the dirt condition under the rocker cover. I am planning to do the timing belt and the water pump as a project. with 140 k km what the best way to clean top engine part include removal of the cam. Watched your video , but how to align the cam shaft again is any point or mark on the cam shaft that should match other marks on the timing and down on the crank sh. thanks

Hi. Thanks for your nice words. For the automatic transmission you need another oil. In the workshop where i was working, we used an ATF-Dexron 3, but please check the operating manual of your car. It´s good that you want to replace the timing belt and the waterpump. But why do you want to clean the engine under the rocker cover? You must be careful there, the moving parts need oil. When you install the camshaft again, you have a metal pin on the timing side. This should be on the top at 12 o´clock. When you put back the pulley of the camshaft, you can adjust it correctly because you have the marks on the pulley and the cylinder head. You can see this in my long timing belt video beginning at 0:35. Please let me know, if i can help you further.

@@pannonicmechanic The reason is that the car was park for year, and after watching your video I decided to check the condition of the lifters and when i removed the rocker cover i found an Oils deposits and clumps on the shaft holding the hydraulic lifter think due to the poor quality of the oil used. My plan is to just dissemble the camshaft and do a quick cleaning to shaft and also to clean the hydraulic lifters and then put everything back. I don’t know how to send you a picture of the current condition 😊 bad in technology

@moawia.eldjack First i would check, how the engine runs. If the lifters make no noise, let it as it is and fill only an engine cleaner into the oil. After that you should make an oil change. If you disassemble and clean all the parts, you must be very careful not to damage those parts and clean away all the little fragments. Otherwise they can cause blockades in the oil pipes. Unfortunately i don´t know, hogy to clean hydraulic lifters. I think you can´t disassemble them.

How many kilometers does the car have?

My car has about 150.000km. I replaced the transmission fluid, because i´m not the first owner of the car and so i don´t know, if it has been replaced ever.
