Transmission Options - Traxxas TRX-4 Sport Full Upgrade Project Truck Part 3 | RC Driver

Here’s another quick video as our Project TRX-4 Sport Full Option build continues. This time our ready to run will have a few transmission option parts installed. We’re going to show you the slipper eliminator plates along with giving you a few tips to install them. We’re also going to swap out the stock composite motor plate with the aluminum option. We did plan on installing the wheel hexes, but will put that task off for a later video. However, we did get some more option parts to use in this build and will give you a quick tease of what we got.

Since your building a 2 thousand dollar trx4 you should upgrade the 12 dollar motor now that you have a metal motor plate you should go sensored brushless 👍👍

I dont see swapping the slipper out. Can't you just tighten it down to lock it up.

I was thinking the exact same thing, I’ll locked my slipper just by fully tightening it, unless I’ve missed something? Lol

I’ve upgraded the motor in my trx4. I also think that my slipper clutch is worn out. What would be the best to do, get a clutch rebuild kit or just go with the slipper eliminator plate? I’m kinda worried about breaking something in the transmission in it if I go with the eliminator plate.

Greg what exactly is the significance of swapping out the slipper clutch

Eliminating the slipper is for those who really know the limitations of their rig and know precisely how to drive it and when to back off. For example if you have the tires tucked deep in a crevice and try to power through it. Most likely a the slipper will slip protecting the driveline and even the electronics. Some drivers may want to power through because they know their rig (most like built up) can handle the stresses. It’s a personal preference and yes there’s the chance of damaging the driveline.

I would be afraid of locking out the slipper clutch because all that torque will go somewhere else and break in the driveline!

I have a ? Now that you have removed the slipper and put the eliminator on what exactly does the eliminator do. I think its kinda like locking an open diff maybe

Not having a slipper puts more strain on the drivetrain and will break parts there is no reason to remove it l. He is just showcasing a useless part to purchase. You can just tighten the slipper down to do the same thing I don’t suggest

Regards! I would like your opinion! I'm already in the hobby but not with crawlers, at the moment I'm not thinking of competing only scale look. Which of this one you recommend Redcat gen8, axial scx10 honcho or traxxas trx4 sport.

If you want to build your own custom rig for scale look you want to go with the SCX10 II for sure. By far the most aftermarket support and things built around making straight-up scale rigs including far more hard bodies to put on there if that's the way you want to go. Plus it doesn't have the portal axles so you'll get the straight up looking axles. You might also want to consider the new element Enduro with the IFS kit they just made. If you don't want to build and just want to purchase straight out scale look check out the RC4WD vehicles.

If you want a good mix of both you can't go wrong with the TRX4 (the Bronco, Blazer, and Defender all look awesome but they aren't the sport version they are the full version. the sport just comes with that truck body which is an unlicensed Traxxas body.). And the TRX4 is probably the beefiest most bulletproof out of them all. But the red cats and the axials are pretty good vehicles as well. that really comes down to what scale vehicle you want if you don't want to have to build them at all. if you don't mind doing a little bit of fab and like to paint your own bodies you can get a 1/10 scale body and put them on just about anything.

@@jaydlonewolf6375 dude, I know. I like the Traxxas the best personally but they are all good. Also to note Traxxas and Axial parts are probably the easiest to get.
