I get more an more excited for this game the more play throughs I see! I really enjoyed this fuller version play through. Talking through the decision making process makes it even more exiting . Thanks!

Wow, first time I actually recognize a game because of the artist. Matt Dixon is great. For those who happen to play Hearthstone he's the one responsible for a lot of famous cards like Annoy-o-Tron, Tour Guide, Snowflipper Penguin and recently Tinyfin's Caravan!

Literally yelled "NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!" at the tv with Jen's idea placement! lol Thanks for another great video!

I've watched a bunch of Richard's videos and I notice that, in addition to the great review, Rahdo likes Jen to lose. It seems like he deliberately makes better moves for "his" player than for the "Jen" player. I laugh out loud. :-) But anyway, thanks for a great review Rahdo. I think I'll support this. It looks like a lot of fun.

the main thing i'm thinking about on both of our turns is "how can i demonstrate something else... a different gameplay feature, a different strategy, etc." so it's certainly possible that 'jen' suffers as a result since she's always the 2nd player :)

‘Put her pipe dreams on hold’ ha! Just like the rest of us during the pandemic... Thanks for covering this one. Love the artwork and the clever use of the rondel system.

The gameplay seems fun, but the robots are just so adorable that I want to get this regardless :D

I like how you have in theme reasons for certain mechanisms. Filling your robots with ideas until they are fully programmed. They want to befriend the birds and butterflies. They want to save acorns for the animals. But why are they building pipes? Is that their job/primary function? If ideas represent new programming on the robots then what do items represent on your player board in theme world? Guess I have a limited imagination and need to read more books and work on that.

my guess on the pipes is it's a transportation to get them deeper into the forest. this is based on the box art where the pipes seem to run between the city and the forest :)

21:32 Well... Except for the fact that Richard can always move him counter-clockwise and go backward (perhaps that move Jen made would be more beneficial in a multi-player [as in more than 2-player] game).
@JJ_TheGreat3 жыл бұрын
32:35 But you can move counter-clockwise with that one robot! So you should be able to move to the pipes!

Cute looking game. I love the art of Matt Dixon, and the robot minis are adorable. It is like you said a nice gateway game-rather simple, great for kids. I didn't hear you mention a theme. I'm guessing it did not come with any flavor text or you would have shared. Based on some of the elements, a nice thought would have been to say that the robots are environmentally conscious and as such they are motivated to clean up by collecting random items, like coffee mugs and shoes. It's on KS now so it's not too late for the publisher to think about it. ;)

regarding theme, i believe there's not an official backstory for this world. here's text taken from artist matt dixon's website: _Transmissions is personal work that allows me to explore feelings and emotions that might be difficult to express in other ways, while indulging my fondness for painting rusty automata._ _It began in 2006 as a single image. Months later, while organising a portfolio of work, I realised that I had returned to the subject several times and that all the robots appeared to inhabit the same world. I like to visit that world whenever I can._ _I do not understand the robots or the place they reside. Each image is an opportunity to reveal something new about them and their world, and that sense of exploration and discovery is part of what keeps me returning to the work._ so it sounds like the artist doesn't quite know himself what the story of these robots are, and is slowly discovering it through the work. certainly the box art and board for the game implies a lot... there seems to be a robot town which is connected to nature locales via pipes in some way. according to the board, the robots get their ideas and energy in their home town, but they harvest resources from nature to be able to make the items that are important to them. and that's all i got (and i suspect it's all that matt dixon has as well, but who knows) :)

Thanks for the runthrough. But for me it didn't click. I don't see much connection with the gameplay and the theme. Still, artwork looks super nice.

do you try to make bad moves for Jen? you could have moved a robot 4 and bought cup instead of the pipe (pretty sure it was the able to get there). and then you put the idea where the cup needs to go. Poor Jen.
@rahdo3 жыл бұрын
my #1 consideration when making moves is trying to demonstrate as much unique content of the game as possible.

@@rahdo Ok, thats fair, but I still feel sorry for Jen sometimes.
