The comments from Neil Tennant about the Morrissey inspired lyrics make perfect sense now. Still learning 34 years later. God, I love this band and the bigger story around them. One of the highlights of my life.

The last 10 minutes of this episode, wow, I literally have tears rolling down my face. Just speaks to you. Explains it, the way you feel about both Joy Division and New Order - from being a pimply faced teenager to 'dad-bod' 55 year old, who still wears my Unknown Pleasures t-shirt, from time to time. Just superb - the whole series. A gift. See you on the forecourt steps of the Sydney Opera House next year.

I am sure that my life would be completely if my cousin had not introduced New Order to me in 1988. That moment changed my life forever. Thanks Joy Division and New Order for everything

@@xiaoxia5 In the Mid-eighties, I remember reading an interview with Smith talking about his favourite song at the time being ‘Everythings Gone Green’…. we then get ‘In-between Days’ which is a clear nod to N.O. 😉

Joy Division are one of those bands that seem to cross genres. I was into Pantera, Sepultura etc when I bought both Unknown Pleasures and Closer in a second hand record shop. I owe several copies of those classics.

I turned 13 in the summer of 1990. World In Motion would have been the first New Order song I properly listened to. Meant they were on my radar for Republic, then you're digging deeper with The Best Of and Permanent just a few years later. I'm sure we'll get more Transmissions, but will we hear more New Order?

I used World of Motion for a video using footage of a quidditch tournament I filmed in New York City in 2010. They still play the sport, but now call it quadball to make the sport it’s own thing away from the author JKR. It’s on Sci-Fi Journal’s channel.

David Bloomfield and his inspired choice of bands to go with for the 1990 World Cup theme…much better and healthier for the collective psyche than “It’s Coming Home”!

Love the way they completely skip Revenge and go straight to Monaco. I wonder why.

Electronic. The only band to START with a 'Best Of'... The first Monaco album was cool, but I suspect that was more Pottsy than Hooky. Revenge were crap.

Kevin Cummings is right, but also wrong. I don't think Electronic "needs" Hooky's bass. But certainly, it would have been better with it. Andrew Roe Hagen is right about The Smiths: Morrissey and Marr lifted each other up. The whole became greater than the sum of its parts. But for me, New Order isn't that. Each part is great, and when you put them all together, it's the best. But The Other Two sounds like New Order, but the songs are different, and of course Gillians Vocals are great, but Bernard is just that little bit more emotional. And Hooky's bass improves any song, so without it New Order is good, but they just don't have the hooks they used to. New Order is to me exactly four times as great as any of the members are by themselves. And Johnny Marr is also great, so Electronic is about half as good as New Order. And Monaco is similarly basically half as good as New Order. I like listening to all of these bands, but I rarely get this feeling that I HAVE to listen to them. And I get that with New Order.
