I understand completely how you feel. I garden because it helped me though my grief, depression and continues to help me with anxiety. When my front yard was destroyed last year by a gopher, I completely shut down. I cried. I couldn’t even look at it or do my fall clean up in the garden. My poor husband saw how broken hearted I was and he went out there and did his best because i physically and emotionally could not even bear to go out there. Every time I tried, all I could think about was how my yard was destroyed, how much time and money I spent and the fact that I would not see the beauty of my garden come spring. I’m glad you are in a better space and that you are finding peace with planting another garden bed. ❤

Hearing this puts a lump in my throat. I grew up always wanting to have a garden and when I purchased my first home it was a ugly little brick house and I had my babies back to back. I do think starting to garden saved me. my favorite plant/flower has always been hydrangeas!!!! And that’s how I always came back to your page because I associate you and hydrangeas. Like I was mesmerized by what you did and what you could do and all the work you put in and your small babies all that. so I understand I feel for you girl I’m getting emotional because after so much money invested. So much you didn’t spend on yourself so you could save and buy a plant and it bring you so much satisfaction. And for someone to do that. I understand it wasn’t done to deliberately hurt you but it’s really so much more then a space …. I can’t explain and like you said some of those were rare and they don’t sell them anymore. Hydrangeas are extremely pricey. I’m sorry for your loss girl because that’s what it was . I feel you. I knew something wasn’t right you went MIA. Can we get a go fund me page up asap? We need those hydrangeas. That’s your trade mark 😓

It's so nice to see you back in your safe place. You have given me so many ideas over the last 3 years. I started my gardens during the pandemic. Started off with just dirt and didn't think I could get anything to grow. I had plenty of mature tress, hostas, and two azaleas in the yard but nothing else. Three years later and I'm so proud of what I have accomplished. I was so intimidated getting started; however, you gave me the confidence to at least try. Plus you're technically up the street from me. I'm in DC so were in the same zone. (Had no idea of zones before I started watching your channel) 😂. You continue to give me inspiration ✨️, thank you for being so transparent about gardening. My yards are absolutely my safe and peaceful place in this crazy world we live in. Continue to be great in all you do. 👏🏾👏🏾.

Sometimes we feel like a sad clearance plant, but we gotta give ourselves little extra love and we will bouce back. Your feelings are so vaild, I was in your shoes when my landlord came to talk about painting my house and then i saw him triming my plants that didnt need to be touched. He hacked down some of my trees and it was heartbreaking. He didnt even give me a second to grab a shovel and start moving them. I moved months later. I dug up every plant i planted. He thought i was going to leave him a beautiful garden. Glad to see you post! Its been a minute girl. ❤

I am so sorry to hear about your Hydrangeas. I can honestly say that your Hydrangeas were the most beautiful that I have watched grow on KZbin! You have a special touch with Hydrangeas so I am confident that you will not only start a new area for your Hydrangeas but that it will turn out even better than what you have lost. You will find those rare Hydrangeas again! I have personally learned that people who are not serious gardeners can NEVER understand how personal our gardens are to us. I had a neighbor's kids that kept throwing their basketball and football into my yard and damaging my garden beds, breaking off plant stems, and killing my plants, running through my flower beds to get their balls. When I spoke to their parents, they said that these were "only" plants and their kids were just having fun. To make a long sad story short, I ended up having to call the police and the police went over and told them to stay off our property including their balls. This neighbor and my family no longer speak and totally ignore each other. They are just renting their house and my family will be happy when they one day decide to move to another home. They have since spread rumors to other neighbors that I am "crazy" because I make a big deal about plants. Well, I haven't had any more problems since calling the police. They would be shocked to know that some of those "just plants" cost me $40 each! You hang in there and I look forward to watching your new future Hydrangea row.

Some people do not seem to understand the amount of work it takes to establish a certain amount of character and personality in a garden space. Us gardeners put our heart and soul into our work and that must be respected! Hello?? I love transplanting and dividing plants/// FREE FREE and it builds continuity in the garden. That new bed looks fab Moya. Maybe put some Iris back there...they give a vertical accent and break up the mounding groundcovers but not so high to block the window. Good luck!

Sad that happened with the hydrangeas…I’ve also learned the hard way never rely on something that’s not on your own property to provide something you or your plants need. I had a similar issue (my neighbor clear cut their entire arborvitae hedge down which was a privacy screen and shade block for our side) and we were looking right into their pool, and I had plants starting to burn, so I planted as big as I could get arb hedge on my own side so I have my own shade and privacy and I don’t have to worry about someone cutting it down!

Moya, I know the feeling that you had about the tree. I have had neighbors like that. We ended up moving after he sprayed round-up on the Viginia Creeper that was on MY fence. He said it was poison ivy. Also killed the grass because he was spraying and could not control where it landed. We ended up putting up a privacy fence. EDIT: You are so right about the fence. They actually put a deck on that was high enough to look over the fence

I’m sorry you had to go through that. Our neighbors moved in then claimed our tree caused their kids allergies. Wanted us to cut down a 150+ year old tree because it was a safety hazard- all up in my face (a man) then that SAME day let his kids play in my yard under the tree he said was unsafe 😂.
