Reference to the leather gloves: “I don’t think I really need to tell you why-but if you haven’t figured it out, it’s prolly best you learn on your own.” BEST LINE OF THE VIDEO!! Loved the whole thing!!

How late into the season can this be done? I've got a bunch of giant bramble patches that I want to transplant and trellis just like you have. But between weather and work, I haven't had time to work on it yet. We're in S OK, and they're either blooming now or just finished blooming.
@SpiritoftheOutdoors2 жыл бұрын
I think you can do it anytime but now will just take more care as far as watering till the roots establish . Make sure you get more dirt than i did. It was wet tjen and didnt matter as much
@jmparsons73317 ай бұрын
I'm not sure what zone /area you live but for my area northeast but still below mason-dixon. Its best to transplant trees or any fruting bush in late fall/early winter once "plant" is dorment. I would suggest not to transplant when Bush is fruting no matter what zone you live in ,it would probably cause a non-survival trauma to the bush.imo Also when dorment bush can be trimmed back and tied for easier digging and transplanting. Just dig your new hole twice as big as dug up most roots go down 6-8inches...if you cut through the root dust on some Rooting Powder and it should be fine. They are pretty hardy plants but killable if soil is really, really poor and too much shade. In our area, they actually do better in parchel shade. Good Luck 👍 🌳. Hope this helps anyone in a colder climate area.

Do you have a updated video of the bushes?
@SpiritoftheOutdoors Жыл бұрын
No but i will do one . They are bloomed out and some have fruit this year
@Sweet87671 Жыл бұрын
Yes please, I think I have a bush like that, but I am not sure, I don't have much people around me that know about wild edibles fruits, so I have to make deep investigations before I even consider trying something new and or let a plant grow.

I was just curious because I did the same thing and I made a trellis and put them on drip irrigation and I fertilize them and it just seems like they should be farther along than what they are.

Thank you. I have some Allegheny Blackberries on the border between me and my neighbor. I’ve been trying to think through how to “pull” those blackberries over to my side. This is sooo helpful. Thank you. How did your berries do this year?
@SpiritoftheOutdoors Жыл бұрын
We had a few berries but i didn’t expect much fruit. It grew a lot of plant this year and all that will fruit next year

How did your blackberries fare this past year? And what time of year did you move them?
@SpiritoftheOutdoors10 ай бұрын
They did well. I moved them In late February. New growth does not produce the first year . It produces the second year. So last year we didnt have as many black berries but this year it should be loaded. I recently retied them up in a pruning video

@SpiritoftheOutdoors I'm in Ellisville, do you think now is too late to move some?

Do you reccomended cutting them to the ground when planting
@SpiritoftheOutdoors Жыл бұрын
This was my first try. Some did well and some died. Mostly the bigger ones died. So cutting them back might help. I think they needed the root ball intact too
@nickgafa8527 Жыл бұрын
I transplanted a bunch of wild blackberry bushes but they are wilting. Got them in the ground in about an hour or two after digging them up. Is this just a reaction from being pulled up and they will recover...?
@SpiritoftheOutdoors Жыл бұрын
It is but i lost a few of mine too. The roots will normally sprout new growth . Black berries will only make on the second year growth. If you break the roots or dont have much dirt with them they could die.
@nickgafa8527 Жыл бұрын
It's a huge bush. Probably 5 or 6 feet tall and 4 feet wide with thick branches. Surprised how quick it started wilting. I hope it survives
@SpiritoftheOutdoors Жыл бұрын
@@nickgafa8527 water it in good. They can go through shock and lose leaves but put on new ones. In a few weeks after losing leaves scratch the stem to see if the plant is alive . If it is it will be green but if its hard and brown it may have died. The roots may still put on new stems tho
