What a great tutorial. I've learned so much from this one. I don't recall anyone else mentioning this before and some things were a definite "ah hah" moment for me. Still struggling with trains and my water passenger routes NEVER seem to work, but enjoying the game. So many things to discover... I honestly felt I'd gone as far as I could with this game and was looking for a new one. Thank you so much. 😃 😄

Thank you. 😊 To be honest, even now, I'm also still having occasional "ah-hah" moments too! 😂 Quite a few things have been improved since this video, like player ownership of roads can now be applied much more easily though the Streets menu and mod handling is much better. 👍 Aye, water and air routes, especially for passengers, can be troublesome but I think there are two keys to be aware of: (1) lack of alternatives - if there are no quick roads or train services across the water, or providing better links to onward destinations people are more likely to use your ships and planes; (2) onward connections - peeps seem to love travelling large distances and the more places they can get to using your services the more likely they'll use them, and thus help promote town growth. Every now and then I like to check a few peeps in the game to see what bizarre journeys they're on and whether I have routes they could use instead of their own vehicles. Good luck! 😎

I think you can also connect a train station directly to the resource place (quarry for ex) with no road at all, it puts a footpath in and will load the train with no truck stop required.
@AjaxpostPlays5 жыл бұрын
Hi, thank you for taking the time to comment. :) Ahh, yes! I hadn't noticed that! It looks like you don't need the road alongside the industry site at all! So it appears you can place any (cargo) station directly alongside an industry and provided the connectors are shown when you place the station it will load the resource. Neat. :)

Thank you for this series, you have piqued my interest in this genre and will be trying this game in particular. Newport in Shropshire was supposed to become a "port" on a spur from the Shropshine Union Canal, but the connecting spur was never built. It would have run from Norbury Junction which is not a junction either.

Happy to hear that I may have interested you in the game. After all these years playing I can't really judge how difficult the game might be to get into for a new player - there are a few areas where Transport Fever differs markedly from other similarish games so can take a while to get into (esp. track laying!) - but a little patience should give great rewards. :) Thank you for the background on Newport, fascinating to know how familiar places evolved - and that unfinished/abandoned infrastructure projects are nothing new!

Is it possible to apply mods to an existing game? Having spent days developing a network I was hoping to apply mods to it without having to start a new game. Thanks you answer this at time index 7.15. At the load screen then down below you have the option to modify the mods and add some new ones. This is a really useful video.

Yes, it can take me a while but I _usually_ get to the good info ... eventually. 😉 If you played the first Transport Fever you may also be happy to hear that this game is _much_ better at handling missing mods and in most cases losing a mod will not crash your game - I cover this in kzbin.info/www/bejne/pF67n4SCjKt-eKc

TpF2 is not the same as any of them; it works quite differently and, apparently, frustrates a lot of Transport Tycoon and OTTD fans. Some great and useful information covered in this video. In TF, I have several very important game saves that I can no longer access, because, for reasons unknown to me, one, or more modders decided to remove their mods from the Steam Workshop, rendering my save games unplayable. This really is a despicable thing to do, and I hope it does not happen in TF2. I was hoping that the devs would have fixed the dependancy of mods in a save game file, but it seems, from what you have said, that this is still going to be an ongoing issue.
@AjaxpostPlays5 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the kind words. Yes, using mods can be fraught when you invest in a long-term game. I don't think all the 'lost' mod instances were all down to malicious intent on the part of the modder - as I recall some were forced due to legal reasons, some were genuine errors but, yes, it is not good if the game engine does not provide a safe way to load when a mod is missing. I think back to The Sims 3 which had the ability to replace missing 'custom content' with a base game alternative, if only other games could do the same. At least on TpF the mod community did help out with default replacements in some instances which meant we could load and safely remove the lost mods from the game.

Can you use trains (directly connected) for finished product such as food? I am unable to get them to load product.
@AjaxpostPlays5 жыл бұрын
There are a couple of things that you need to ensure your train will carry the cargo: First, ensure the wagons on the train will carry food. Then make sure the train route starts at a station with the product (food) manufacturer in the catchment area and stops at a station that delivers the food to the town buildings that demand it _or_ to a station (typically a truck stop) that can carry the food onwards and deliver it to the area of a twon that demands it.

How do I fix a town if I bulldozed everything I still play the first game
@AjaxpostPlays4 жыл бұрын
Hi, You need to leave at least one building in a town for it to grow back. In fact you will need one of each type (residential, commercial, and industrial) for those areas to regrow. For example if you deleted all of the commercial buildings then you would never get any commercial buildings coming back into the town. In the first Transport Fever, if remove all the buildings I don't know of any way to get the town to return - you will have to go back to an earlier save. In Transport Fever 2, if you enable the Sandbox Mod you can actually add a whole new town onto the map to replace any that you have bulldozed.
@BrunoAlexLUX5 жыл бұрын
you can disable the need for any cargo for a town when creating it by choosing 'none' for com and industry. buildings will be there but i dont think there will be growth from it
@AjaxpostPlays5 жыл бұрын
Hi, yes, I noticed that you could turn off the cargo demands in the map editor, or sandbox mode and logic suggests that it would limit the growth potential of the town. I may well try it out for my upcoming "Bristol" Lets Play series where I already have too many towns too close together! :)

Yes I do recall where I saw it, it was in Skye Storme first gameplay of Transport Fever 2, Part 1 of the Asian Islands, i think that with some tinkering it can be something really cool, also, I think it can work in 2 ways, either being a central bus hub by itself or working as a kind of "redirector" to power one specific city by redirecting all the people from the other cities to said city if they have the option to
@AjaxpostPlays5 жыл бұрын
Excellent, thank you. Yes, I have used hubs, mostly trains, in my Lets Play but didn't show that in this series. That is an effective way of moving passengers around, especially when added to other modes of transport and it would help keep emissions down in the towns as well. I do think I will be using that idea in my LP series! :)
