Transportation Management Shipping Carrier and Rate Master Setup in Dynamics 365 F & O

This week we take a look at setting up a shipping carrier and the rate master that goes along with the shipping carrier. The shipping carrier and rate master are key to the transportation management module as they determine which carriers show up for a shipment as well as the rate charged.

Hi, In you example, number of the miles (300) was already provided in system, but in real life there are so many possible configurations between different zip codes. So my question is, is there a possibility to integrate D365 with other webpage to the number of miles will be provided automatically?

Hi! such a helpful video. Wanted to ask two things: when allocating your rate base assignment on your shipping carrier- you only specified between 2 postal codes for this example. Would you have to create a rating profile for every combination of postal codes you could travel between? and my last question is: did you Initialize the base engine under transportation parameters? I read that you need to use the base engine but not sure what to do with that?

Yes unfortunately you have to specify the different from and to zip codes. I believe there is an entity you can use for import on this.

Also plz throw some light on fields in rate base assignment->>>i.e destination start PC, destination end PC. What if they both are different, how does the system behave. Because in the video you have taken same postal code in both destination start PC and destination end PC.

What is the use of Transit engine. In this video, it seemed to be informative only. Because, it was only useful to know the days it takes to transport from 1 post code to another in rate route workbench. Or is it some time like it has a use else where. Plz give ur insight in this regard.

Hi there. I did everything in this video and when i did the rate route workbench, it gave me exception error of "Rate base assignment cannot be found". Did you encounter this in your prep?

If someone was to integrate their Engines into D365, what information would be integrated and at what point/ where?

I haven't actually had to create a new engine, but I've always assumed that it would be created as a new engine in the TMS module. It's been a while since I've looked at it, but I think that is where it would be created.

@@Scott-Gaines That's what I would assume also, that the integration would be constantly/ periodically updating the TMS engines
