I am finding your videos to be extremely useful. Solving many issues that I have been having for weeks. I'm sharing to my producer friends. You are covering all the things producers struggle with. I personally play around with the envelope to remove the kick from the 808, makes it sound a lot smoother and it removes the clicking sound that you can hear when using the smp start knob.

One think I've learned about percussion sounds is not to use them by habit. Not every instrumental requires them. I used to always move on to percussion after I got all my other drums done by habit and 99 percent of the time it led to an over cluttered beat with sounds in places they didn't belong or dealt out of place. And what's weird is while your making the beat it doesn't sound out of place at all. You'll listen a couple days later and think, why did I do that? Lol So now I don't use them by habit. I only do it if I feel like there's something missing or I'll use a percussion element in place of something else. That can sound cool at times. One thing is for sure tho. It is extremely easy to over do it, especially when you're in that zone where you just want to keep adding and adding. That's why taking breaks is important. Sometimes you just gotta break out of that mode for a moment and listen to something else, or nothing at all. This type of thing might not affect everyone. I have ADHD and anyone else who does knows exactly what I'm talking about. Constant racing ideas and if you don't get them all out now you lose them forever. 🤣 It's a blessing and a curse at the same time.

Great vid, Navie, you're bringing a lot of value through your teachings. I'd like to ask if you could do a tutorial from start to 'end product' on getting lofi drums using just the samples in your pack, indicating which ones they are. as the sound design is not the part I like to spend more time on, rather than on playing and composing. Also, I've been working with Reaper instead of FL studio and it's native sampler doesn't seem to handle velocities in your samples at all, or could it be my mistake?
@NavieD4 жыл бұрын
Thank you man! Typically if I want lofi drums, I actually start with using acoustic drum sounds like from a drum break (which would be illegal for me to distribute unfortunately). I plan on doing something similar though where I show typical FX chains to get normal drums to sound really gritty and dense, so hopefully that will help. As for your Reaper conundrum, sorry I don't use Reaper to produce so I am unfamiliar

Hmm that would be a good idea. Just to give you a quick opinion, Omnisphere, Soundtoys Bundle, FabFilter Bundle would be the first things I would rebuy if I had to start over from scratch.
@JD-gt9bd4 жыл бұрын
Navie D. Yaa I was really thinking about omisphere. That would be the only thing u could get tho. I was also thinking about the soundtoys bundle since it’s on sale now but I don’t think I’m advance enough to use those effects since I’ve only been making beats for 5 months and still mix in earbuds. I would buy monitors but then it seems like I’ll need all of this sound treatment for my room
