I've spray painted a some of my traps that needed TLC the last couple of years with no ill effects or lingering odor. Hang em outside for a few days and I can't smell anything

Thanks again Dale. I commented the other day about mixing my Rustoleum Rusted metal Primer with mineral spirits instead of acetone. The traps are dried and curing in the sun. Just an FYI you were right of course it made no difference on the traps the only thing I noticed is swirls of color in the paint. Didn’t matter how much I mixed it I couldn’t get rid of that. Not a problem on the traps at all, but if a perfectionist went to prime a truck frame or something else and that showed up it might bother them, not me. Just thought I would let you know. Thank you again for your time, knowledge, and the willingness to share it.

You're welcome Mike. Fur singe is curling or burning of the guard hairs. I honestly have never seen it or had it happen to ANY otter I've ever put up Mike. I saw it on a beaver in time but he was that way before I caught him. Possibly from laying in the den too long. I personally wouldn't worry about it. Thank you for watching

How would a wise and experience Trapper clean the wax and dye off to paint traps. I acquired a few more good used trips that have dye and wax and I want to paint them. Just cook them like kidneys boil the piss out of them?

If you can get yourself some lye or saniflush Matthew id boil them in that. It'll help remove that stuff off them.
