Hi Mike, have you noticed that the pigeons are hitting their wings on the roosting posts that are sticking out at the doorway as the birds are coming in and down. I would worry that one may injure a bone or ligament by the impact of the wood in such a fashion. Please consider this. God Bless you and your lofts.
@Rocky.Ridge.Pigeons3 жыл бұрын
Yes I have noticed that Stevhan, What I have now is a little ledge that they walk in on and then jump so they don't have to do it all at once. You have a good eye - thanks for your comment 👍

Thanks for this new video bro. I am a pigeon lover. live in NY, want to have a loft like this but don't have space. One question bro. do you sell some of those young ones? I want to have one or two pair in my apartment. Please let me know. thanks for the video again. I love the work you do with this birds.
@Rocky.Ridge.Pigeons3 жыл бұрын
Sorry you don't have space for a loft my friend. You might consider a small pigeon breed if you can't let them out but racing pigeons if you are going to let them fly. I will have some for sale later in the summer but am trying to build up my stock right now. Thanks for asking.

Young birds are looking good , when we flew the Van Riels and Jansens where our best! We won several races from 200 to 600 mile races , we raced out of the Baltimore area it was the Concourse we We’re in the Tolson pigeon club . Take your time with The young birds don’t rush them when you start letting them out let them get comfortable and play around the yard they will start flying to and from things you’re home pigeon loft when they start flying up in the air and bunching that’s what you want then they start traveling as a group when they start going away for a half hour or more that’s when you want to create them and start taking them on short tosses at first then increase the distance. When the birds came home from their training flight we used to use a light colored pigeon called a coacher , we would hold it in our hands flap its wings to get our racers attention then throw it to the board if you got had a good coacher it would sit outside on the board and wine pigeons flew over it would make a little loop around the yard and come back to the board that would bring our racers down then we could clock them we used to use big heads I think they call them now long faces good luck with the birds Mike looking forward for more videos keep me posted about the pups they’re looking great

Thanks for everything Tim, I'm just wondering when the first time I should let them out (best age) and in morning vs night and so on. Should I release all or just a few - things like that.
@timspicer96913 жыл бұрын
You want them going in and out on there on for several weeks, when you see There confidence building on going in and out of the Avery area ! We used to tie the traps open so that hole was open and they could fly in and out it will build their confidence and flying and landing procedures then when they all go out into the Avery start closing the Bob‘s so they get used to going in using the bobs sorry about the spelling but I’m using the microphone Mike you will see a difference in the birds in their confidence of flying back-and-forth then one day take the cage off the top and do it in the morning so they can fly around hopefully Hawks don’t show up but when you take the Avery off have the Bob‘s clothes so they can only go in and not back out again after they all come outside of course then close the Bob‘s so they can only go in
@Rocky.Ridge.Pigeons3 жыл бұрын
@@timspicer9691 Thanks Tim - never mind the pigeons, you are building my confidence haha! During the day I have been leaving the bobs tied up so they can come and go and about half do it because some are just 4 weeks old still! Is it true that if you wait to long for the first release that they will have to much strength and fly away or to far and get lost? I lost so many on my first toss last year that I had to stop flying because I was afraid I wouldn't have any to breed at that rate! They flew for over an hour the first time out and not in a flock. It took 4 days to get 2/3 back in the loft. To say the least it was a traumatic experience for me as a new flier and made me wish I had never let them out at all.

Thanks for your help Tim I really appreciate this.
@timspicer96913 жыл бұрын
@@Rocky.Ridge.Pigeons it depends how your birds are doing when they were flying in and out of the trap with a little bit of confidence we always took the cage off and let them go out into the yard they would fly from the landing board to the yard mostly fall because they would do that spin around and then they’ll start flying to the house roof and back-and-forth and then they start going up on their own a little bit and that’s what you want you don’t wanna wait till they’re too old because then they’re strong they’re like a teenager they’re strong and cocky but they’re stupid so why they’re still that little bit of babies but can fly around and handle flight pretty good that’s when you wanna let him out and play or get cocky and you’ll see one or two that’ll fly to the ground and others will follow it then or fly over to the house roof or to another coop and then a couple others will follow Nico back-and-forth and you’re going to lose a few we always had a 20 bird race team but we always had 30 or 40 that were on the Reis team that we could pull from because you never know what happens hawks game people shoot them I seen a guy lose his whole team a bird he was training his birds out on the water he would take them outOn a boat and he turned them loose and they flew too low to the water in a wave took everyone of them under so he lost his whole team in one shot but you still want to let them out while they’re young and that way they don’t have any confidence to really go anywhere yet then they will start puncheon hopefully that helped and I didn’t talk too much I’m using the microphone again so you may have to cipher through this
