I grew up on the flatlands...The way I was taught about using high beams on flat land is: -- If you can see two separate headlights on the vehicle coming towards you, you're too close to use your highbeams... Likewise, If you're following someone and you can see 2 separate taillights on their vehicle... You're too close to use your high beams.
@Mike-y3q9 ай бұрын
+ High beams should be illegal even on emergency vehicles , even low beams should be designed on all kinds of vehicles to be on a certain fixed hight from the ground . All vehicles ; emergency or not ; should have surrounding lights installed on a lip but facing at the vehicles themselves not at the other traffic ! ( in place of the hazard lights ) with the use of reflecting tape all the way around all vehicles . Reflecting plates should be installed on ALL roads and all lanes ;( different colors ) 90% of accidents and pile ups will be eliminated … Same goes with loud wild mufflers , 0 to 60 thing … etc !! ( back to humanity !! ) ❤❤

I enjoy your videos very much. I was to some of those places in the Midwest. Back in 1972 I was on a cross country train trip and remember when we stopped in Dodge City, Kansas. That city looked just like a town out of the old west. I'll never forget how flat the state of Kansas is. Greetings from Connecticut.

One thing I loved about trucking was that you meet total strangers and you talk to each other like you've been friends for ever. In my experience I hardly ever got to talk to "boring" drivers. Usually I'm thinking in my mind how do I stop this guy from yacking so I could have dinner and then go to bed! Just ask him about what he does, what he hauls. That should be enough. Oh plus you had a great opening right there about the headlights. We've all been there. Done that. In the Northeast is very few open spots and we were in a an old TA and he was packing into a paid spot. Normally they have these signs that have wheels on them because the bottoms are full of sand and I jumped out and move the sign for him and then he and I waved him in and he got out of the truck closed. You didn't have to do that. And I said that's what we do. We're truck drivers. We help each other and boy he just relaxed and stars got in his eyes and I couldn't shut him up. Same thing happened in Fulton Georgia where you have to sweep out your trailer before they will load you and I guess this guy didn't have a broom or anything. I don't remember if I had the broom or the blower at that time but he came over and asked me kind of sheavishly. Can I borrow my? Can you borrow my broom or blow? I don't remember and I said sure but remember it has a home. If you're not done by the time I leave here I'm taking it with me. So as I was getting loaded no it was a dropping hook. I was finding my trailer and by the time I found it and pulled it out and everything he had I think just finished and I him he said to me. Geez I want to thank you so much. I don't know what I would have done and I looked at him and when I said hey we're truck drivers. That's what we do. We help each other.

That NW corner of Oklahoma is pretty grim looking in winter. You didn't name them but from Watonga you pass thru Seiling, Woodward, Lavern (home of Miss America 1967) and finally to Englewood, Ks. and then Dodge. Like Beth Dutton told her dad, "Why not buy up half of Oklahoma and raise cattle for the next 20 generations where no one will care"?

As a trucker puling a RGN trailer and sometimes a low pro 3 axle step deck, I never ever want to be parked anywhere near a reefer trailer, but for some unknown insane reason those guys with a damn running reefer finds me way out there in the back parking lot and park right next to me when there’s plenty of other empty parking place further away from my truck. I never understood this phenomena ! I like it quite, especially during the winter when I run the Aitronic Eberspacher Espar cab heater to keep me toasty at night with the TK tripack APU on stand-by, and that thing usually doesn’t even start to run in order to charge the batteries for the first 8 to 10 hours of being parked unless you run the coffee maker or a microwave oven through the inverter and the voltage goes down below 12.1 V. Then it starts automatically and runs for 30 minutes to charge the batteries, then it shuts off for the rest of the night.

You never mention that Cattle Smell around Dodge City. You must be use to it. I knew a driver forty years ago who drove for Red Wing Shoes out of Red Wing, Minnesota. All he would do is run an empty to Kansas and pick up a load of hides back to Red Wing. He said that was the worst smell he had ever encountered. He had to shut the doors in Kansas and then open them in Red Wing.

Hey Schmidt, most of us that watch your videos are not Rhodes Scholars. I too finished high school with a small amount of college. I could care less if your English is not that of King Charles. I am an old construction worker and now retired at 71. I ride a Harley-Davidson just like you and we all know both of us can say some pretty choice phrases at times. lol I have been watching your videos for several years now and I don' miss any. I sit in front of my 27 inch iMac with some good sound hooked up to it. I can hear your voice just like you were here in the room with me. I can also hear the sound of the yellow thing under the hood. I would love to hear one thing from the truck. Set the camera to the side and let us hear at least 4 or 5 gears from the outside of the truck. You did a video like that a couple of years back. That CAT talks. Over the years of my construction career, I too drove a few trucks. Most of the time I was an equipment operator with several of my machines yellow under the hood. Love that sound. Keep trucking and we will keep watching. Be careful how you talk to Opie. He looked awful confused with that last conversation.
