When I first came to Greece l was in shock from how many homeless dogs were around my apartment. What shocked me even more was how the people in Athens reacted to me loving, feeding and watering these beautiful souls. By the end of my stay I had a pack of dogs waiting for me, coming with me wherever I went in the city. I wish I was able to find these dogs homes or shelters, but the language barrier was a challenge. The only comfort I was left with when leaving was knowing how many people I met in Athens that had a change of heart towards the dogs after our lives crossed paths. Dogs are not disgusting beasts, they are kind loving souls. All they want is a human to love and be loved. And in my opinion, Athens has a lot of people in need of some love. I live in Canada and due to health problems, I'll be stuck here for a while. But one day, I would love to come back and help the street dogs of Greece.

Awwww That made me cry that poor sad face and sad eyes of Tina. And it proves that size does not matter and that animals indeed do have souls. So pleased she was finally adopted in a loving home. To be locked up in a yard for 12 long years is a disgrace no love no proper care people are so cruel and selfish! Seniors rock!! Animals should be loved and cared for at any age.

I find it strange that people are afraid of large breeds, they were usually not bred for aggression like some small breeds were. I mean, all dogs have different personalities but I've mostly found that the larger the dog the more like a big cuddly teddybear they are. Also, I have a personal rule that I try to spread: If an old dog want's you to pet it, you have to! I joke with people and tell them their legs will explode if they deny a senior dog it's cuddle quota. When they question my logic about that ridiculous statement I point to my own un-exploded legs as "proof". Old dogs are awesome and deserve whatever they want, especially if it's something as simple as a couple of scratches and assurances that they are the most adorable doggy ever.
@FKBUSH15 жыл бұрын
I always preferred big dogs. They have always seemed more gentle than smaller dogs. They have less fear, I think ;)
@Gaius__4 жыл бұрын
I agree with what you said about large dogs being very cuddly, I have made the same experience. I guess they just don't have to prove anything to anybody, because they *know* they can kick ass, if they have to. And as for having to pet a senior dog when he demands it: Yup. *It's the law.*
@danielangom3 жыл бұрын
I don't understand it too. It has a reason why the little ones are often called ankle biters or rats... We grew up with dachshounds and of course I loved them but if you remember that every breed has wolve blood and you see that kind of teacup dogs it's ridicouless... And all this little breeds are tormented breeds and they have additional lots of seizures... A dogs size started with knee hight dogs who are smaller then my cats aren't real dogs...

I am a man in my 40's. have animals now, lost animals in the past, and every video I watch, I smile, then my eyes fill with tears, then I smile again. I am going to need therapy soon. Haha! You, and the people that help you at the shelters, and the new 'mommies and daddies' of these beautiful animals are nothng short of wonderful. Keep up the good work, it will keep your soul young and shining. Thank you, from England
@OrphanPetGreece6 жыл бұрын
Haha! ❤️🖤 Thank you so much ❤️ Their stories are so inspiring. When you stop seeing them as numbers and start looking at them individually, each animal can make a novel with its life story. Their past is usually a blurred big question mark, because we rarely know when they come from, but that makes the whole story even more intriguing and interesting.

She reminds me so much of my dog, my 12 year old English Labrador. I will always love big dogs, they just want love. Tina has the droopy eyes of my dog, and the size. My dog doesn't have a huge yard, and he is fine with that. He doesn't want a huge yard anymore, he just wants to know we are home, and we aren't leaving him.

@@OrphanPetGreecesome people need guard dogs. That's why dogs are property. You use them to meet your needs in a dog. Not all dogs get to cuddle up on a bed at night. They shouldn't be abused or abandoned like this one was, but there is nothing wrong with making a dog into a guard dog.

Wonderful rescue of a senior Dog. Currently we are the happy co habitors with a rescue 10 year old Black Lab and a rescue 8 year old golden lab. Both victims of being displaced after their original parents had babies and no longer had time for their fur kids. I'll never understand that thinking and I try not to judge but its hard when people think that dogs are disposable. Both the boys (shadow and Toby) are a joy and I know every day I have them is a gift but I only have to see their happy content faces to smile and know that I've made their life better.
