I am a Kenyan working in Addis Ababa. Just before the war started, I had gone to Bahir Dar for a vacation but managed to come back to Addis before the war. I have friends in Bahir Dar who lost their lives. We lost valuables in shops that we had invested. till now internet is not restored. Peace is paramount above all things, lets appreciate the peace we have in Kenya.

Right now we are very vulnerable and I think every man should get a gun for self protection or practice self defense, the problem comes when they land in the wrong hands of sad men who use it for wrong reasons. Kenya is a relatively peaceful country so you have misunderstood. Ethiopia is currently filled with ethnic conflict so if only one ethnicity disarms, they will be killed in large numbers by the militia of another ethnicity. Also, the government here cannot be trusted, the only way for civilians to protect themselves is through these personal firearms so asking only one ethnicity to disarm means the government has an agenda of their own and that agenda is not peace.

Mkuru Ethiopia has both a president and prime minister. The difference is that Ethiopia has a parliamentary system of governance where President is head of state(mostly ceremonial) while prime minister is head of govt. (executive running of govt) chosen from the majority party/coalition in their parliament. Kenya is a presidential system of governance, where president is both head of state and government.
