I love how she is slowly seeing the infected less as people. The progression of her character has been great so far. Excited to see her as a truly hardened survivor.

I definitely think she's had the most believable progression so far, and we're finally seeing her tip over that ledge that all the other survivors have gone over. Now that she's been broken by the world, she's quickly going to be forged by it... Which hopefully will be interesting. xD

@@J_I_M_B_O The difference is that Grover was broken long before the world ended. He was in Nam, the poor thing. He was already prepared for a world of horrors Emily knew how to handle stress with a cool head, but working in the emergency room, performing surgery, or giving bad news to terminal patients (depending on what exactly she did at the hospital) is a far cry from the apocalypse. But she's in the crucible now, and we'll surely get something meant to last out of it.

I mean that's one of the core appeals to stories or storytelling. No matter how much the creator might want a certain theme, emotion, or lesson to be portrayed, the reception comes down to the individual and what they take away from it all. With this series in particular, it's incredibly interesting highlighting different personalities each season and seeing how the audience responds to them.

Emily has been very lucky that the power is still on at day 22. Based on my single player playthroughs of Zomboid, my power usually goes off at 7:00 am on day 20th or so. But man she gets unlucky with the helicopter. As Jamie once said on the radio: "I don't know if you're listening, but whoever is flying that god damn Mf-" Emily would probably be saying something similar to them if she had a HAM radio at home :P

Well I just learned that I drastically messed up the day counter for this episode, so she's really only on day 14, but that's still a decent time to have both power and water. Though I imagine they'll go out during her journey to the hospital, which will be a real pain in the ass. XD

Yeah, I'm pretty happy that her lean towards spears makes sense both thematically and mechanically. Besides being generally safer, it also allows her to limit her exposure to contamination, which is something she'd be aware of at all times.

Honestly that's where the majority of my fascination comes from with this series. Diving into the headspace of different characters and trying my best to portray them as realistically as I can. Whether it's a timid librarian, a grizzled biker, or a determined doctor, I want each of them to feel different but relatable in their own ways. Also at this point I've gotten far too many comments telling me I should write a book, so I'd be lying if I said the thought hadn't gotten stuck in my mind. :P

She's definitely gotten the best treatment in regards to slowly molding her character around the events. Not only have I gotten more mindful of these things, but the whole purpose of her starting position and scenario was to highlight the initial outbreak and how it effects everyday people. Hopefully that stays solid as we continue to follow her journey until eventually she becomes just as hardened as any other survivor out there.

I have been taking special care to make Emily's transition as believable as possible. It has certainly slowed down the usual pace of the story, but hopefully it gives her a bit more depth when we start getting into the more troubling scenarios that will undoubtedly come up.

I think a good plot twist would be the survivor attempting to synthesize a vaccine with the vaccine mod (getting the virology, lab and chem skill books, building the laboratory and equipment, and getting samples and cultures, and developing strains of the vaccine until she gets the cure). I mean she's a medical doctor so why not?

Etc.), I'm kinda thinking of re installing the mod and starting fresh (which is really sad for me because I've killed about 15k zombies on Raven creek and almost cleared about 60% of the city).

Ooh, the police station once more! I hope she can at least find some good weapons! It might be sad to find weapons whose owners obviously never used them, but maybe this means that they escaped before it got bad? Hang on, so some of those zombies have police insignia on their shirts and jackets? They weren't there before. I think some of the police tried to come back for some reason. Weapons, armor, a defensible position? Looks like they didn't make it far. I wonder if it has anything to do with that first zombie, the one in the green coat? He strikes me as having turned only recently. Emily's SUV could totally haul that little travel trailer. Just sayin'. Where the heck is that alarm coming from?! YES! Zombie media criminally underuses spears! I hope she can find or make something even sturdier, but this is a great start! That blonde zombie looks pretty fresh. Once again, Emily narrowly missed meeting someone. I kinda wish Emily had taken that nail polish. The idea of her painting her nails for lack of anything better to do amuses me deeply. Oof. Taking every weapon she can find out of paranoia rather than necessity or future preparation. . . that hurts. Oh man, I hope he didn't slash Jim's tires. He's probably still okay if they could make it to 'the middle of nowhere' with his aunt. Or at least, he's got a better chance of being okay than most. Aaaaaaand it's the drunk bird of death once again. And that it two days in a row?! Really?! Wait, what's it shooting at?! Ugh, she must feel like a zoo lion, pacing behind the bars. But she doesn't even have the 'luxury' of truly being trapped, because still she has to go out and stab more zombies. I pity that helicopter if Emily every gets ahold of a rocket launcher or something from the abandoned military hardware. She's at least as angry with it as Jamie was. Oh dear. Questioning the point of it all is, uh, not what you want to hear from a survivor. A goal! Yes! I look forward to our girl getting some answers, one way or another. And that's a wrap for the first movie! Can't wait to see it all compiled, and to see what comes next!

Yeah, had an issue with mods which despawned and respawned a bunch of vehicles. Had to go back in and manually replace them which was a real pain in the butt. :P

wooo more Em. while it probably won't happen (give the mod load I saw this is running with) it would be interesting to see her try (operative word here being try) to cure this infection as a way of moving forwards. if you were to consider adding a way for her to actually make a vaccine or cure, that would also be neat, but I think this is trying to stay faithful to the zomboid "canon" of no cure.

Well every season is designed to focus on a different scenario/individual, and the sandbox settings are modified to highlight that. Right now the zombie count is incredibly low because she hasn't left her neighborhood, but that won't be the case once she starts messing with Louisville proper. Jules was the season with the highest zombie population I believe, and that very much made his journey about scraping by, which I don't want every single character to have to go through. That's why Grover had a smaller amount but with a handful of them being sprinters. Keep the challenge, but reducing the insane grind. Anyway, there will be a lot of variety with each season, and we'll just have to wait and see what they look like when we get there.

I too would love another survivor along with Emily, but I worry that it's not realistic because of how janky PZ multiplayer is. TW made it work so well, but it was a headache for him, and I don't want to wish more work on him.

On the third day I went scavenging in rosewood with two other people, but it turned night and zombies started spawning at the building we were at, so only I survived because I fled into the farmlands

How quickly do you think the average person would "lose their innoncence" in a disaster scenario, throwing away any moral compass and doing whatever it takes to survive?

It is all a result of their loss, the period of time of their loss, and the trauma they endure. This stacked against the strength of their morale compass and values that keep and preserve their innocence.. it is the result of that trauma vs. Their strength of character. Look at Shane vs Rick of the walking dead... both arrive at pretty much the same outcome.. Savage survivors who would do anything to preserve what they care about. Shane arrived at it much sooner as he was in my opinion... less stronger in his morality. Rick struggles but as his losses compound, he arrived there later. This is just how I see it.

I'd say many would hesitate to the point that they were killed/turned. Stories like this would be closer to the exception, rather than the norm. These are the stores that would be told, tho...because these would be the people who lived long enough to leave a story behind.

There's also social factors to consider. Are you an unfortunate lone survivor, experiencing prolonged isolation from other people? Probably faster. Do you start off part of a community that banded together from the outset? Much slower (since you have other people to anchor to and help you though things). Emily (and by nature of the game most PZ survivors) has the short end of that stick. And some things should barely register the "moral compass" anyway. Solo or community, who is going to look at abandoned houses and stores and think, "Yes, the cans of Campbell's Chicken Noodle are best right where they are, and I shouldn't take them?"

Playing in the event felt insanely strange. I haven't played Zomboid like a "game" in so long, that I had to actively fight the urge to go and do small RP things. It was fun to indulge in the casual approach for a bit, but I'm now even more confident that I've found my playstyle with this series.

Had a conflict with a mod that replaced a fair amount of the cars, leaving them the wrong model and without any parts. I had to go in and manually replace them later which is why they get "fixed" eventually.

Is alarms going off when you arent the cause in the base game? I swear I've seen zombies break down a door and come attack me, only for me to walk through the open door and the alarm trigger. Also what mod do you have that lets you wash in tubs and showers with an animation?

turn on Zombies Trigger House Alarms in sandbox settings

I believe the mod is called Take A Bath. Allows you to use both tubs and showers, and is honestly pretty cool to include in the routine of your survivor's day.
