I used to use harpers shack myself. But nowadays I just the old world blues house. It is just simply the best house, given that you have a vendor with 100 repair right there. And also all the other random benefits, like the framing from the seed guy. You can also teleport there over encumbered.

Another plus for Harper's Shack is that there's a campfire outside on the left as you're looking at the door. As others have mentioned though, there are Deathclaws nearby, so I'm always in sneak mode anytime I'm outside the shack.

A house in Goodsprings I always used was Easy Petes house. Its directly behind you when you fast travel to Goodsprings, lots of storage space, two beds big and small (Easy Pete for some reason sleeps on the smaller one lol) and has the work benches close by. Victors shack is nice, but like you said, its kinda out of the way. Great list overall :D

I never had a house in my playthrough. I just kept all my stuff in the dumpsters behind Chet’s shop in Goodsprings. After playing FO3 and having a house I like the idea of having a base though, so next time I might use Viktors Shack.

That's awesome. I tend to use multiple houses myself. That said, I tend to go with Harper Shack. It's almost in the centre of the map, or rather lower center and has plenty of storage options as well as both the benches.

Goodspring’s source is my favorite. All you need is the perk that makes animals friendly and you have safe access to clean water, beds, containers, campfires, and geckos for food. It’s the only spot I know of that has all the basics you need without any loading screens.

Harper’s shack is good and I used for a long time however the issue is the death claws nearby. Sometimes I’ll fast travel there and 2 or 3 death claws would attack me

The Sunset Sarsaparilla crates by Chet's store is my favorite place to store goods. Outdoors with no loading screens, within the tutorial area, and has nearby crafting benches. The only problem is a lack of bed, but there is a bedroll a little stroll away. Edit: It's also right next to the fast travel spawn to Goodsprings, and by two vendors

Harper's Shack = #1 . It will take a while to be able to handle the Deathclaws on your way to and from the shack. Once you can handle the Deathclaws, though, Harper's Shack is it for me. It has all the crafting I need, and always remember: Location, location, location!!!

Lucky 38 is my fave, though if Mods are involved, my favorite is the Afterschool Special. you can work towards making Goodsprings' abandoned Schoolhouse your own personal player home, with all the space you could ever need and all the amenities, including a Hot Plate that you can use like a Campfire. warning though, if you are storing stuff in the Schoolhouse in between quests, make sure that you are holding on to the items as the upgrade is taking place, or else with a lot of other upgradable homes, you WILL lose everything to the void.

In addition to the lucky 38 presidential suite, the novac motel room and the rooms at Big MT (the sink), i usually set up a place at the house directly to the right of the Nipton town hall. I don't feel the need for a place in or near Goodsprings at such an early stage in the game and feel little need to return there later. By the time I get to Nipton, i have accumulated enough stuff that i want to keep that storage and a place resupply is useful. There are lockers, beds and a reloading bench or workbench and no traps. I like to have a place with a stash at different parts of the map early on. I sometimes abandon Nipton once I get better places. Until i get into the 38 and the sink, Novac is my main abode, but i still keep the Nipton place as my southern base. Later, I primarily use lucky 38 and the sink. I use the 38 as a base to change companions and store things when the next quest warrants changes to companions and/or equipment. The facilities at the sink are good for storage, sale, purchase, healing and crafting and i can go there automatically using the transportation device after completing old world blues, even when encumbered.

Novac for nostalgic purpose, it was my first player home during my first ever playthrough and the Sink for the reasons you mentioned. And of course Luxky but that only has companions, no gear or anything.

My player home before beating old world blues, was grabbing the unowned sunset cases and stacking them right next to the work benches. And stacking another right where you fast travel to, so if you up your strength to fast travel and then are overcumbered, you can drop things off in that one and then go drop off the rest of your supplies

Ha ha I have done that too. I just have one small issue with 'outside homes' in general. If any creatures happen to wonder into one of my outside home areas and there are NPCs around, they will go for your supply boxes too and start taking out your weapons and ammo. And so this is why I keep my stuff behind one load screen.

There's also a campfire near the south wall of Harper's shack. Literally every game mechanic is available in that location and only superceded by The Sink in the Old World Blues DLC as a player home. To the point I still use Harper's shack as a place to store to overburdened things I'll take back to The Sink. But basics like weapon repair kits, repair use weapons, reloading supplies and all medical stuff like stim materials and super stim and their auto versions I store and slap together as needed at the Shack. The Sink I just use to store my higher end weapons, armor, gold bars and caps over 10k. For the high end weapons I separate them by class in The Sink in the 3 lockers by the bed: I place a Centurion helmet on the one with melee, an NCR ranger helmet on the one with guns and a BoS helmet on energy weapons. Maybe I've been playing FNV a bit too much...

These seem like early game only homes. There are many more good places (or combinations of places): Lately, I've been using the trio of Raul's Shack (bed, workbench, 3 containers, and a ghoul mechanic for repairs), Gun Runners (reloading bench, vender, and 1 container), and Field's Shack (2 containers and campfire outside). I bounce between those three when I'm doing a lot of repairing, crafting, selling activity. When doing hardcore survival mode like I always do, knowing where the outdoor beds are is also useful, especially with Roughin It perk.

Apart from a bed, a good player home needs - more than 3 containers - infrastructure close by (a doctor and a trader) - *clean water,* at least for hardcore playthroughs, and - ideally, its own fast travel point. I see a lot of these locations fail this list. Especially with regard to the last point, the shack close to the memorial disqualifies itself with so many enemies around that you might not be able to fast travel _from_ it before you clear out the radscorpions.

I always tell newer players that any place can be your home. Almost no container in the entire game respawns. For roleplaying reasons jacobstown is one of my favorite places to store stuff, super mutants probably arent gonna steal your stuff and the super mutants would keep your stuff safe from would-be thiefs.

All the homes in the video for the most part have safe containers. What this means is that your items won't disappear overtime. If your concerned then you can put in some random loot and come back after around 72 hours. If your items are still in the same location container then you should be good to go.

@Herman These aren’t players homes that you can acquire in the game in the traditional sense these are rather “ Free Housing “ that you can get for free in the game because for some reason the containers don’t respawn despite not functioning as real player homes. Also just wait 3 days to see if they don’t respawn or not. Also make sure to organize and put specific items in diff containers this is a way to organize your belongings in the game. And you don’t want free housing were enemies respawn every 3 days it will be very vexing regardless if the containers don’t respawn. It’s still wise to use a area as a free housing. Station your squad mates so that can fight them off any enemies nearby frankly, if you do the multiple companions Glitch it’s very helpful in a way.

That's very true and it so happens I am actually making a guide on just this - safe containers in NV. It might be a while before its out as I working on it but hopefully it will help to answer your question.

Thanks Greyson for your comment. It's a solid location. It's somewhat easy to get to, has an easy fast track location and decent storage options. I may make another one with some locations a little more scattered around the map to provide some more options.

That's a tough one, I would go with one where there are not many NPCs around to give yourself some space and maybe even near some bences to help fit a little more into the lore.

@@TrappedInFallout the best part is it doesn’t matter how you deal with the brains you still get the teleporter and with long haul perk you can fast travel loaded down with sweet sweet loot and you can store all your gold bars and millions of cap’s in the safe

Yeah that's right. I did sort of focused on early houses that provide decent protection and good containers. I am thinking of doing another one where the houses are further away from Goodsprings and have other advantages.

As long as you store your items in safe containers then they will not disappear.

That's absolutely right. If you manage to have a decent amount of caps then being able to repair via caps I'd a good way to keep your kit in good shape. Sadly it can be an expensive habit but still worth doing so the house works out to be a good option because of it.

Literally there are no decent options. Either you have to go through some loading screens and running to get to anything decent (Suites on the strip) or settle for some dump in the middle of nothing. Jeez no wonder there are mods. I’m considering doing that. Only I hope none of my progress is erased

Yeah, I totally agree. There are no great options but at the same time the options we have are good enough but as always there are up sides and down sides. It's really what ever works for you.

@@TrappedInFallout I added a modded bunker in good springs and love it 😍! The entrance is right behind the saloon. It has everything I need, looks the part and has some really good weapons with upgraded parts. I don’t want to go too crazy with mods as I want to enjoy as much of the vanilla version as I can

@@sportsentertainmentco9877I do exactly the same thing. I do run some mods but they are all performance based, like reducing crashing or frame rate. Because I am recording my screen, things can become a little intensive at times. But for my guides I don't have any mods at all, it's all as vanilla as possible from both gameplay and functionality.

Ha ha Yeap. In fact you can make almost any house your home because of the way containers work in NV. As long as a house has safe containers and a bed you can sleep in, you can make it your home.

Houses dont mean anything because there is no fucking endgame for fnv ,its so sad that a FALLOUT game thats so good ,cant even be played after the ending like fallout 3 or 4

It certainly isn't great that you can't continue to play the game after it's over but in hindsight it does sort of encourage multiple playthroughs. In terms of house, it's still worth having because you my want to stock up on things and collect things which is also almost impossible due to not being able yo carry as much as you want.
