This was the golden age of television sitcoms. So many awesome themes, actors, and plot lines. Gosh I miss being an 80s kid.

@Scott Meckley Most themes have been truncated or excised completely to sell 45 more seconds of advertising space.

I also remember, because the living room and my bedroom shared a common wall. I heard the theme every week, though never saw a complete episode. Our bedrooms were also nect to each other. Good memory of a different time.

I was born that season. When I was a kid in the early 90s, I use to sleep with the TV on all night and superstation WGN Chicago aired reruns of this series in the middle of the night.

I don't know who's the composer of this groovy ol'school musical masterpiece but I become immediately relieved of any pain & sorrow each time I hear it; everytime! Thanks so much Mr. Ben Masters, I can't actually really even begin to tell you what this post means to me because it brings tears of unfathomable joy to my spirit & heart. Now I just learned about the identity of the composer of this phenomenal introduction of symphonic serenity; he's John Parker. Long live JOHN PARKER, you're legendary!

Pernell Roberts was wonderful as “Trapper John” McIntrye. The blending of his current post in SanFrancisco & reminiscing about his days while serving at the 4077th M.A.S.H was wonderfully played out over the 7 seasons.

He made the decision to get out of Hollywood and raise his children in rural Oregon in the 1980s. I also heard he was at one time addicted to cocaine and spent time at the Betty Ford Centre and after that got out of Hollywood.

I always wondered why the Trapper John depicted in this series couldn't have met the Hawkeye Pierce of this era in an episode. My understanding was that while MASH was still running first-run episodes the production company couldn't allow it

Trivia Fact: "Trapper John, M.D." was a spinoff of the show "M*A*S*H".
@HoJo668 жыл бұрын
Actually, due to some legal issues, it was a spinoff of the movie MASH.
@DisastrousDallas7 жыл бұрын
it's actually a spin-off of the book not the film as people incorrectly assume
@bloke_19xx337 жыл бұрын
Don't know all of the details, maybe it's a mixture of both: the 'TV' Trapper (Wayne Rogers) on and off made references to San Francisco, possibly his hometown? I recently watched the MASH Movie, and couldn't find the time when the movie Trapper (Elliott Gould?) referenced SF. Interesting TV/Movie conundrum, to say the least.
@fromthesidelines6 жыл бұрын
It's really an updated retread of "MEDICAL CENTER" (co-created by Frank Glicksman), with Pernell and Gregory in the James Daly & Chad Everett roles, surrounded by "M*A*S*H"-inspired characters [and nicknames] and "Trapper John's" name. What CBS wanted an hour-long medical drama with a "M*A*S*H"-inspired theme.....and THEY initially promoted it as such.
@stewartlynch78594 жыл бұрын
@@fromthesidelines And produced by a different studio. MEDICAL CENTER was MGM TRAPPER JOHN was FOX. Both were on CBS, though.

Another trivia fact pernell Roberts starred in bonanza as one of the Cartwright brothers
@arthro92596 жыл бұрын
yep. never knew that was the case 'til some years later
@fromthesidelines6 жыл бұрын
Yes- and that's why he quit the series in 1965. He got tired of being one of the "Cartwrights"...and that almost sunk his acting career. When "TRAPPER JOHN" came along, Pernell was VERY grateful, and never took being in a weekly TV series for granted ever again. In the end, he achieved what he wanted out of life, and died of pancreatic cancer in 2010.
@michaelglickman13004 жыл бұрын
@@fromthesidelines Actually, Roberts left the series because he was annoyed at how the producers kept casting white actors to play non-white roles.
@TheTheo584 жыл бұрын
@@fromthesidelines I read where actor Guy Williams (Zorro, and Professor John Robinson Lost in Space) appeared on Bonanza as Will Cartwright, a long lost brother or something. It was something about Roberts wanting more money, the producers brought in Williams to show Permell Roberts he could be replaced.
