I'm going to use your box and rat trap idea for the red squirrels getting in my shed every fall. Great idea.
@DN-cb7gn2 күн бұрын
my experience is the trap has to be held back from the opening far enough for the rat to get half way in before stepping on the pedal. i use a couple small nails on the floor on both sides and the pedal end to kind of keep it in place and from sliding around. loving your work, thank you

Try a colony trap for muskrats, brush it in like a tunnel with a little bait inside. It works for field rats.

J rats and mice have the ability to fit in that hole no problem so don't change the opening yet. I suspect they climbed on the plastic boxes first trying to figure it out and rock it, setting off the trap. The plastic isn't heavy enough. Just a thought! Thanks for sharing.

I skipped through the video to see the pack rat update. I have caught a few in muskrat sets and around a campground. They do a lot of swimming around water. I do mod the rap traps by putting a 20 penny nail between the wood and spring tails. Extra tension creates a magnum. My son likes to put electrical staples through the wood facing up so it creates a tooth trapped when it goes off. Really puts the smackdown on a squirrel. You should put out some 110 trail sets
@jabbalechat79102 күн бұрын
You need to peg the mouse trap to the bottom of the box so it can't move, a short piece of wooden dowelling vertically protruding upwards from the box floor to match a similar sized hole in the rear part of the mouse trap board should do the trick...

Pack rat fur reminds me of flying squirrel fur. Pretty for what they are lol. Most rodents can get their body through anything their head can get through. You should be fine.

@thecincylife57363 күн бұрын
Ok now that I looked at it that’s a pretty big rat. I watched a few videos the other day after you said you were trapping em. People use 110s a lot and foot holds if they have a hole to set it in
