@CFox.7 Well the alien respawns when you enter a new area that requires a loading screen and in some missions there's scripted events that cause the alien to teleport to a certain area. I was able to run all over the place without being worried about the alien for a while though, it was fun!

We know that attack hitboxes might not match model collision boxes, and that these boxes can also totally phase through models and terrain depending on how the game is programmed and it's engine works.

When you go through a tram or an elevator that requires a loading screen it will respawn the alien. Also later on in the level there's a scripted event where she appears, but it was fun while it lasted.

The alien is scripted to respawn once you get into the server farm so it will despawn from it's prison. Also, there's a broken elevator with a corpse. If you enter the hit box of that area it also despawns the alien from the prison. The reason is either Ripley is no longer accessible in which case the AI is set to go backstage thus it will despawn. Also, if you go past the doorway by the junction on the lower level into the cell block room there is a dynamic loading zone which unloads the previous area from memory which includes the alien. So it resets the alien backstage.

​​​​@@DS-wl5pkNot canon. Scott has retconned anything after Alien and before Prometheus. I know a lot of people love Aliens, 3, and Resurrection but they never happened so to speak. That being said we have never seen a Xenomorph be pushed to the full limit of its' strength or reflexes. Given the biomechanical nature of it that Scott has confirmed (which is partly why the other movies were retconned) I would guess given time it'd be able to get through a barrier like this. And even if it couldn't it's intelligent enough to realize a few self made small cuts are worth it to get out.

@@JP-xg6bv well that’s great because everything I said about how the blood works was established in Alien. Alien 3 and resurrection just showcased more of what they could do with it. Remember, in alien the single drop burned through 4 decks. It would probably accidentally get out with its blood trying to brute force it and cutting itself. There’s nothing that implies it still wouldn’t get out via its blood Or brute force. They are strong enough to easily drag people up to high places like shown in alien, with almost zero effort. That implies an insane amount of strength. Think of the big cats that drag prey into trees. Even they struggle a bit to even get a good grip, of course they make it seem effortless, but the way it took Brett up made him seem weightless There also isn’t really anything not lore friendly in Aliens so I don’t see why you couldn’t actually use it as a reference as to what to realistically expect from an alien. I know it’s easy to say “but mah retcon” but those movies were made with a specific context and idea. Unless they plan on greatly changing how classic Xenia work, I think it’s more then safe to use it as a reference. The only thing that may change is anything involving the queen and the intelligence she seems to have. They may remove the queen all together, which I would hate but it makes the most sense if anything did “need to go” in order to change how the xenon work without changing too much of the lore.

The latter two mods where the alien runs moment it spawns and teleports into you if it's behind your back. Smoke and Kitty's Nightmare has up to 5 aliens making trapping the aliens very tricky.

He's said it will soon go to staging branch of the program. Custom doors are required to support scratch built world changes b/c the game uses dynamic loading zones and doors are the zonelinks / boundaries.

@@googleyoflolz9930 don't need any source code. Not for most things; There's a modding tool called OpenCAGE which gives access to the game scripting engine called CATHODE. CATHODE is a custom built Creative Assembly scripting engine. A (genius) developer named Matt Filer has created OpenCAGE to edit the CATHODE scripts. At thie point we can add extra aliens, add items to inventory, skip levels, and even reskin the alien as Thomas The Tank Engine. That mod was released last year for Halloween to NexusMods. Matt also released a program to randomize the order of levels in the game and two other modders extensively debugged the mod so as to minimize problems with playing the levels out or order (for example they had to respawn the npc civilians at the end of mission 11 if mission 10 was not already played or the game would crash b/c their state is recorded and there was a conflict. This mod though is quite hard because you can theoretically go to missions later in the game without resources or weapons. It does however make the game interesting as no two random ordered playthroughs would be the same. His tool can also edit the behavior tree and add new branches. It can edit characters, weapon paramters, blueprints, and lastly can edit the alien's sensing parameters such as leashing, sound / sight sensitivity and locomotion (running speed). Matt Filer is on GitHub if you're interested.

The game has no mechanic to "kill" the alien. Taking all of it's healthpoints away makes it despawn and it goes backstage only to spawn elsewhere.

It's not even a problem at all. You don't even notice until the fifth playthrough .-. Now, it WAS a problem in, say, Security Breach. You noticed the first time in happened in that game.

It does not actually teleport unless it's behind you and you're in an animation such as cutting a panel or using a junction lever. Otherwise, the teleporting is limited to a few places where it upvents audibly for a scripted event. These events are in Medical Mission 5. If you get far enough back to Khulman when you have the keycard, the alien must be ready to kill him thus it despawns to be present for that event. Mission 6. Right before the scripted ending the alien will despawn to be present for that. Mission 7 the animation where the alien grabs one of the NPCs will despawn the alien to be there. In Mission 17 there's a scripted jump scare. If you get far enough along the hallway it will be desapwned again to be present for that event. Any other teleportations are not actually. The alien can go backstage and then move right fast to another vent to drop from, but it's not technically teleportation. If however you're in an animation to use a door button, cut a panel, use a junction lever while the alien is behind you and you're unable to exit in time it will appear to teleport because time game time gets compressed when the alien is behind the player and it doesn't need to be rendered for it's movement. In Kitty Isolation which is a mod this latter effect is made 1000% stronger by the alien always running vs merely stomping about. It will always kill the player if it's behind you. But that is highly modified to create that very effect.

This has been known about for years. Probably all big fans have done this especially since at that point of the game you likely have an excess of flares. Unless playing on nightmare where they may be needed to take on the working joes. They are more of a danger than the alien since although you can take 2 hits unlike 1 with the alien, there are more of them.

If you do not agro the Working Joes such as shooting them direct or indirect, or using a flashbang, EMP, or noisemaker near them they are not actually hostile in this mission; they follow the same function as the warehouse Joe in Mission 7 where he's not hostile unless you "do something illegal". The best part of using this trick is if a Working Joe gets trapped WITH the alien. Then you hear the Joe casually asking "what are you?" as the alien is screaming over n over. as the warehouse Joe in Mission 7 where he's "not hostile unless you do something illegal".
