Trara die Post ist da! - Wiener Sängerknaben (circa 1962)

Wiener Sängerknaben (Vienna Choir Boys) with the Wiener Symphoniker (Vienna Symphony Orchestra) conducted by Helmut Froschauer, circa 1962.
This particular track is from the CD, "Hänschen klein: Lieder für Eltern und Kinder" [DECCA 480 0492] where they give a date of 1966 for the recording. However, an almost identical track appears on the 1962 Disney movie, "Almost Angels," except on the movie the solo is sung in English. So here's the original, in German, in the correct key (the DVD release of the movie plays at a half step sharp.)
The still images are from the movie, during the choir's performance of the piece. The song is about the post man delivering packages, which is what happens in the movie: the choir gives gifts and packages to the children in the hospital they are performing for. An excellent family movie, by the way.

Hi. I've been subscribed to your channel for a long time. I love the videos you post. The Toelzer boys are my favorite choir. I do like the WSK, though too. I'll get to see them in concert in October when they are on tour in my area! I'd love to see the Toelzer Knabenchor live some day.

A bugle is almost always grasped by the upper tubing....for greater stability. The sound is, of course, being generated by a different instrument, so it is for show......but is awkward looking.

But of course. And since the tune modulates from F to Bb, you'd actually need TWO bugles. The instrument actually playing the part is a rotary trumpet. ;-)

I agree that the choir often times doesn't pronounce the words as we'd hear in spoken dialect. I think the best choir for that is the Tölzer Knabenchor. They have at least five CDs of folk music which are incredible. Such good music!!!

So toll die Sängerknaben auch sind, von deutschen Volksliedern wie diesem sollten sie doch die Finger lassen. Diese Interpretation ist einfach nur schleppend langsam und mühsam, die Aussprache viel zu gestelzt und künstlich, und der deutsche Akzent fehlt völlig.

Erstens die sprechen von Geburt an deutsch, zweitens das Lied wurde nur geschrieben für einen Heimatfilm in den 1962 Jahre wo die Wiener Sängerknaben mit spielten wo wir auch schon bei drittens wären, sie sind Sänger aber keine Schauspieler dadurch hört sich das auch anders an,
