The amount of charm that genuinely oozes from a lot of these classic box arts alone is overwhelming compared to modern cover arts. Where most cases you either get dark/gritty or minimalistic/simplified. Regardless, if they reflect the final product.

When I was a kid we lived in Lakewood, WA right outside McChord AFB. We went to Hollywood Video quite a bit. We rented NES games, Sega Genesis & Playstation games. Eventually they did away with the NES & Sega but there for while they were there. Swamp Thing & Silver Surfer were the hardest games we owned. Neither my brothers or I could ever get through the first levels. I wish I still had those 2 particular games. It would be interesting to see how my kids would do trying to play them! What an awesome trip down memory lane! Thanks for putting this out!

So funny you mentioned Game Dude in North Hollywood, CA as it still exists(if it's the same place which high chances are it is) but their a used game(and to a certain extent media in general with DVDs, VHS ect). They have video games dating from the late 70s Atari 2600 to the present(2022 present) with Nintendo Switch Games ect. Not only that but they also have old ad posters on their walls from like MK 4 for Playstation 1 and N64, MK3 for Game Boy, Game Gear, Genesis, SNES, original Tomb Raider, Donkey Kong Country ect. What's also cool is that all the game consoles and games are in sections too so PS3 in 1 section, NES in another ect. They even have a few original arcade cabinets you can play of a few old Capcom games. Unfortunately there's no photo or video allowed in the store otherwise I'd make a whole documentary of the store with all the games in there but still a great experience and escapism going in there 🎮😀. Great video

I rented Tiny Toon's Cartoon Workshop as a kid. You pick a character (I used Fuzzball) and a background. Then you choose a bunch of animations to make a very awkward cartoon. It was simple but I liked it so much. You could hook it up to a VHS and record your cartoons but I couldn't get it to record. It was soul crushing, because I worked so hard on the Fuzzball cartoon, too. I have a lot feelings for this game.
