Here's another case of "why'd they throw this away"? I found this Poulan Weed Eater FL1500LE 23cc 2-Stroke Gas Powered Leaf Blower on the curb on trash day and decided to see if it can be repaired... For one thing, the pull start cord is stuck in the out position and won't retract. This appears to be a common issue with these. We'll have to fix that. And there may be carburetor problems too.

@@TheGuitologist Tip: You can tell a 2 cycle engine has good compression and is worth saving if you can feel the stuttering jerking feeling of the rope as you pull it out, where it gets hard, then suddenly releases, then hard, etc. So, it can be worth it to have the rope (which is replaceable) so you can get better feedback on the condition.

You would love my neighborhood Brad, not one thing in my house was bought except music gear, a friend moved outa state, fridge stove freezer, but 80% of my furniture I paid nothing for, gadgets galore, Lady across from me runs a give away wall, people leave stuff, others pick it up, and I’ve got first grabs. Just this morning I ordered a 12$ Briggs/Stratton carb for my mower. Fired it right up. Gas power equipment is really easy to service if you realize they all use about a half dozen variations of fuel management parts. Gaskets and hoses typically degrade from the shitty ethanol gas these days. You can buy gasket, hose, and o-ring sets for these but it's usually easier to buy new carbs for not much extra. These little "box" style carbs you can get for around 15$ and it pays to keep a few on hand for equipment you've got around. Adding fuel filters to the lines also helps with dirt getting into the carbs.

If you use Marine Grade Stabil, you will avoid the fuel lines hardening and gumming up the way they do. It's the Ethynol in the fuel that destroys these things. And every other engine in your life. That stuff eats away at the vinyl parts. Marine Grade Stabil helps.
@StillLivinginthewoods
@StillLivinginthewoods 2 жыл бұрын
That will work,.. but I just run all my small engines completely out of gas every time I use them. Normally that is cheaper,.. but with the price of gas right now, the Stabil might actually be cheaper! A small in-line shut-off valve between the tank and the fuel line works great for that too, that is what I have done with all my riding mowers. Works great for motorcycles too.

I have a Stihl leaf blower, and use it to blow out loose hay out of the round baler, and square baler after baling season to clean them up. I also have an electric Homelite I think it is, that thing blows as hard as the Stihl, and no telling how old that thing is, it's a dandy, but have to drag a cord around. I used WeedEater brand weedeaters for years, the Feather-Weight models, but bought them used at pawn shops, or yard sales, and the thing that wears out on them, is the head. I just got to changing out the whole shaft, fixed for another year. I finally went thru about 8 of them, give them to the junk man, he thinks he can fix them, little does he know, all the motors gave out, I used them hard. I never use ethanol base gas, we got 100% gas down the road, use that in my Stihl saws, the blower and my Stihl weedeater.

New lines and a clean would have fixes it Brad.. I do this all the time in the spring when people can't start them because of left in fuel or brittle fuel lines ( ethanol kills the lines) and I sell them for summer beer money. If you need any tips on the small engines drop me a message anytime I'm happy to help. Good save. Action seems a little high but it's got good tone! But does it djent? Seriously I use ethanol free in my small engines and it really seems to make a difference. It's stupid expensive (but not as bad as diesel yet) but I don't need 20 gallons at a time. Also there's stuff called Mechanic In A Bottle (get at Wally World or Home D for 6 or 7 bucks) that works wonders on gunky small engines to clean them out. Just add in gas and run engine. A little goes a long way.

Seems like most of the negative reviews I've seen were due to the issues we addressed here - rotting fuel lines and sticky pull start.

You don't even need to take that off all it needs is a new gas line kit and a prime button installed..and it don't need a carborator.iv done lots of them your wasting your time and money because you don't know what your doing..your going to break the rope jerking on it then your in for a real job fixing that..

Ha, those Walmart-bought homeowner-grade units are so cheap and shitty. They wouldn't last a week with a commercial lawn maintenance crew. Redmax or Stihl for the win, they will last the average homeowner a lifetime. They're obviously much more robust, but the difference in performance is night and day as well. The future is electric with this type of stuff, though. Stihl is doing pretty well in that market at the moment. I may have heard the sound of millions of Weed Eater brand blowers and trimmers crying out to you for help from dumpsters across the nation while watching this video. It's scary that so many people aren't smart enough to fix something so simple. The ubiquitous "Oh brother...throw it in the gutter, and go buy another" mentality.

@@TheGuitologist Yep, when I was a lot younger and a lot dumber, I was a part-time small engine mechanic at a True Value hardware store while going to school here in Georgia. As long as some dummy didn't run straight gas in it, I could usually salvage them with a new spark plug and a refurb kit with diaphragms/gaskets/needle valve for whichever Walbro carb they were running. It's usually the ethanol in the gas that kills them. Fuel filters, fuel lines, and tiny constant velocity carbs don't like that stuff. Good video; it brings back memories of simpler, more care free times for me.

Wow, you'll go to bed with those same pajamas later? And walk over the carpets in those same slippers? Would it be too much of an effort to don some everyday clothing after you take the morning leak? Is it too much of a hassle to keep a pair of flipflops or sandals near the door to put them on in case you go outside? Your wife must be very tolerant. Or has maybe grown indifferent.

For the sake of joe biden can you stick to repairing amp videos. If your trying to appeal to more diverse viewers or likes it is not working. although some may like seeing you finger this crap in your Pokémon sleep wear it’s a waste of time and I’d be willing to bet it is not dramatically affecting your KZbin numbers. You might as well be pulling a muddy stereo receiver from the river and restoring it to new. Jesus Christ are you a plant?
