Yeah this song is heavy. I can relate cuz I was brought up in group/foster homes my whole life went to 8 different elementary schools and 3 high schools. My parents were drug addicts and still to this day I live with my wife and 3 year old son they know where I am but never have once come to see me or my son, they don’t give a shit. So my role model was Eminem growing up. His music was very therapeutic to me. Songs like Sing for the Moment, Fight Music by D12, Revelation, The Way I Am pree much all his music. I used to get room searches and one day the foster dad snapped The MMLP CD and I lost my mind beat his ass and got shipped off to another house, but this is why Joyner is my second fav rapper other than Em. A meaning to every song

You know when I first heard this song I was brought to tears.... I grew up just like this with BOTH my parents and I was their age when I decided that I promised myself that I would NEVER be what my parents were for me and that I would be the role model for my kids that I never had growing up.... let’s not get it twisted I love my parents but role models they were not.... but I needed to be better than them and I dedicated my life to making sure I stay on the right path and not forget that I have to kids looking at me and learning from me... and it’s crazy my kids always wonder why I am so hard and demanding and I tell them that it because I need them to be better than me but I’m also doing everything I can to be better for them

I was one of those kids. I raised my siblings because my mama didn't give two shits. Ended up separated for 18 years due to foster care. I only had the streets to turn to. I'm really grateful Joyner is putting music out there for kids like me. Nobody should have to live that kind of life. God bless you, Joyner.

YOOOOO FINALLY, PASS!!!! Though I agree with you on that chorus, but the message hits hard. Its dangerous when kids look outside for role models, because they find gangsters and thugs, and then the cycle continues. Children need both parents to look up to, obviously on parent can do it, but its hard.
