Hey Scott! I live in Florida. In 2021 My husband and I bought a travel trailer from Lazy Days in Tampa. It was a fiasco from the beginning. To make a long story short, though, we ended up having our RV delivered to us. They referred us to On the Mark RV inspections and repair. When the owner came to our home, he told us some of the issues that needed to be addressed. I called Lazy Days and made an appointment, which was over a month away. We drove over 2 hours to the dealership and dropped it off. They had it for over 3 months. Upon picking it up, I was told that there was nothing wrong with the A/C. I explained that it was NOT an A/C issue, it was the belt Moulding around the A/C unit that was the issue. When I picked it up, they had parked it in the parking lot between two other RVs, so we couldn't get into it because the doors wouldn't open. When we got it home, we were finally able to go inside. That's when we found all kinds of issues. When we opened the fridge, it was moldy. They were supposed to fix the door handle, because it wouldn't stay closed, and they left it closed with moisture in it. The A/C wasn't touched, and the theatre seating that had come loose was fixed. Not 2 weeks later, the A/C in the living room went down, and the theatre seats had come loose again. I called Lazy Days and talked to the service manager, and he said to bring it back in. So, for the second time in less than 3 months of owning it, it was going back to the dealer. At this point it had never been camping. The second appt. was, again, over a month away. We took it in, and they had it for over 4 months. While they had it, the second A/C had gone down. There was a dark brown liquid leaking into the pot lights in the bedroom, and on the back wall of the bedroom closet. After finally looking at it, they told us that the front cap had been leaking, and that they would have to take it off and also do roof repairs. They had it for another 4 months or so. We were so upset and angry over all of the incompetence! I had been on the phone with Keystone probably 100 times over the course of this process, that they refused to take any more of my calls. I sought a Lemon Law attorney, and I was told that even though I bought the RV in Florida, I couldn't file a suit against them because they are based in Illinois, and Illinois is a NO Lemon Law state. So, we are out $48,000.00 for an RV that has NEVER been camping, it is falling down around us, and there is NO recourse that we can take! IT IS ALL A SCAM!!! DON"T BUY AN RV OF ANY KIND! You will lose your money, because you have no rights!😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡

@johntapia-du3dj: It's all overhyped advertising is what get people excited to willingly pay for overpriced lemon products. Think about how much money goes into advertising instead of research and development, quality being an integral part of R & D. I guess quality is not a concern anymore because there aren't enough safety failures for government to come in and regulate the RV industry. Besides, these types of expensive items are considered luxury products; therefore, the government doesn't feel the need to intervene on behalf of the public. This kind of good information presented in this video is a moot point unless the consumers demand better quality for what they are paying for. Business in America pretty much sucks. We're reverting back to the old days where profit is first and everything else is last. This is what almost destroyed Ford.

Unfortunately, in most instances, the reputation of "American Made" or "Made in the U.S.A." has gone from 'high quality' and 'long-lasting'to 'get away with what you can' and 'replaceability is more profitable.'' It's less about pride of workmanship and more about pride of revenues and profits.
@AmpedtoGlamp9 ай бұрын
That's very true for some industries. Wouldn't it be nice if we could bring the pride back?
@raoulroberts20249 ай бұрын
It would be delightful. Capitalism does not operate on conscience and morals, so the change is less likely to come from the manufacturer &/or vendor and more likely to come from the consumer. However, we the consumers must hold them to account AND also be held accountable: we must demand better, but we must also expect to pay more. Our "Walmart-ized" sense of consumerism is part of this degradation of quality workmanship.

As soon as it came back fully sorted, sold it. Never looked back at getting an RV. Never again. The industry needs to go through a massive downsizing and restructuring. I have to imagine there is massive over supply right now with interest rates where they are.

So why does the 1986 Vogue motorhome my grandparents bought new have zero of these issues after over 2 million miles of travel? @raoulroberts20249 ай бұрын
Currently, the notion that an RV is neither a car nor a house determines that neither set of regulations apply to them. You're right about the need for some rules and quality standards going forward: since they are driven on roads and lived in as homes, then both sets of regulations apply.
@AmpedtoGlamp9 ай бұрын
We need something. And, the RV industry is incapable of regulating themselves.

Came across you guys, watched this video and I had to subscribe. I so appreciate it when people tell you things with a "helping hand" perspective rather than trying to push their newly made friend's product (as too many other KZbinrs do!). You are spot on in regards to this subject matter. Quality in the RV industry is no longer related to pricing it seems. It also appears as if manufacturers place units with just any dealer with room in their lots. Some dealers are prouder, pay attention to what they represent (sell) and train their employees in their diverse areas of expertise, but I think the majority simply just care about their profits and add nothing more to the RVing experience than a sour taste. I'll give you a for instance, I'm in northern Georgia where the land is somewhat hilly and I have only been to just one dealership that drops levelers in uneven surfaces before opening slide outs to show you their units fully opened.🤔 (BTW, been to many dealerships!). Keep the good work and I look forward to bumping into you guys somewhere along this beautiful country. The first drink is on me!! 🙂

Hi @AlexUrzua 👋. Welcome to our community. Apologize for the delayed response. You are spot on about dealerships. With the slow down of sales there are an abundance of 1-2 year old RVs sitting on lots. We've asked about maintenance plans at several dealerships. Most have none and the motorized RVs have not been started on a regular basis. Not running an engine kills it. Not sure what happened to taking pride in our work. I hope we get to meet! In the meantime, safe travels!

This is crazy !.. Does this mean the RVs that are above $400,000. have better quality control ? Just because people are buying in the price ranges below 400K, doen't mean they should have to put up with, or tolerate, poor quality !.. It's like the MFG. companies don't want to bother hiring people specifically to quality check each RV (new or used) before it is sent to a buyer, or released on the lot to a new buyer.. Thank you for being here telling people that might be unaware and get taken advantage of. RV travel is a wonderful thing, but the decline in quality is unconscionable. I never watched your channel before but I wanna say you people are right on the all the industry is becoming disaster and what’s happening is that when these RV companies buy these RV back they don’t fix them or check to see they just put a price on it they sell it and if anything is wrong, you’re stuck so you say a warm tea if for warm tea is in California and I’m in New York what good is the war Aunt going to do me and I really like you said they just clap them together and whatever the chips may fall that’s what you’re stuck with that’s why I would never buy an RV I would buy a class B well I know it’s going to be completely done and I would have it a bill made there were a lot of good builders out there that build class B vansand ready said Van is one of them. They come out of Trenton New Jersey and they have some product. The problem is it’s way out of my budget so I just look at them and wish I could buy them but I can’t.

As a welder, i cannot fathom myself buying one of these units. I have built trailers, flatbeds for pickups, farming implements, etc. so I have some experience. I don't know where they source the materials for the frame. They are so light duty that I cannot go down the the metal supply yard and source a new piece of the "I" beam or channel that they use. I saw an bumper pull rv where the tire blew and it cracked the frame. After that I decided that I would probably never purchase one for myself. I'll just stay in the hotel. Be less trouble.

Good video guys. I always watch your channel. As someone who purchased his first small class C in 1985, am on my 8th motorhome and traveled over 200,000 miles in them, here’s my take: I have seen them get worse. The more we added to them ( slides and more electronics were my bigger headaches), the worse they got. I’ve owned 6 different brands, including three Fleetwood, a Forest River , a Thor, and two Winnebagos. My present rig is a 2022 Winnebago Vista 29V, which is basically a very simple “entry level” class A. A Covid build rig. 36,000 miles over 33 months. We have had a few big issues and took it to Winnebago twice. We had warranty and non warranty issues they pre-approved prior to our arrival. The factory was great, techs were amazing and they even fixed things out of warranty they believed should not have happened. This is our second Winnebago and while we have had issues we found the quality was better than many.FAR FROM perfect and we just had a rear cap repair due to water damage but that may be partially my fault. The industry should have more regulation. Most of our problems involved accessories made by others ( window frames, water pumps, propane regulators, etc.) so the entire industry is a problem. But I have found good shops and good repair technicians. I avoid dealer repair if not under warranty and will continue as an RV’r as long as my body holds up. Thank you for your videos and keep pushing for improvements.

Getting them to cover stuff after you leave the Dealership is such a hassle and you just get frustrated until you just fix it all yourself.
