As a 59 year old white guy, it doesn't bother me at all either. Bird was a phenomenal player! I loved the NBA back then, not so much now. I know everyone has their own opinion, and I was not a Piston fan, but, Isiah Thomas is one of the most underrated players in the game. Isiah was an unbelievable guard, and an exceptional human being!

I once saw an interview with Thomas about Bird and McHale. It was back in the "2-2-1" first round playoff days. This was 2 games in Boston, 2 in Detroit and one in Boston if needed. Boston blew the Pistons out in the first two games and were headed to Detroit for game 3. Bird called the hotel in Detroit and cancelled the team reservations for games 3 and 4. Neither he nor McHale packed any luggage, just wore the clothes on their backs. Before the game started Bird told Thomas that the Pistons would be down 20 at the half and lose. Isaiah said they were down by 30 and McHale ordered a pizza and had it delivered to the bench in the 2nd half. The Celtic players sat there eating it while Detroit got slammed. Thomas said "that was the moment I learned to win in the playoffs". Some of the details might be slightly off but I know I saw this interview somewhere and cannot find it anywhere. If anyone else can I would love to see it....thanks BTW, Bird was easily the GOAT. No one had a bigger set or could do what Larry could. "It ain't braggin' when you can do it!" LB

Larry Bird is one of the six GOATS: Russell, Magic, Bird, Wilt, Kareem, Jordan in some order. The three great team players and the three great individual (both offense and defense) players.

I can understand the trashtalk very well, since most of the most physical players in the NBA were african americans and white people were considered "soft" it amazes me how Larry Bird drops 30 - 40 pts against the toughest "black" defenders out there, the same how Dirk Nowitzki casually drops 30pts against Garnett, Duncan, R.Wallace against the toughest defenders out there white people tend to play skillfully than be physical now we have Jokic who is very crafty with the ball
