Great memories playing with the blue diesel. Never thought I’d see that running, bloody well done bro 😎

Never underestimate the value of the emotional and sentimental feelings relating to such locos: breathing new life back into this childhood relic - for the first time in your life - is worth every penny & minute invested. It's the reason I'm grateful to you for agreeing to fix my Evening Star 9F, even if it means cannibalising the black one to get it working again. Great job, sir.

Well done, you could try a stay alive capacitor to improve the intermittent running.

Sentimental jobs are my favourite as you can really go in there with care and attention. Great work. In regards to Blue’s running; I’d recommend a 2amp chip and a stay alive. Being an older model it’ll draw more current than modern models - potentially cutting a regular decoder out - and of course the short wheelbase won’t help matters. With that sort of equipment on board, it’ll have every chance possible and should run sweetly.

🇺🇦 Hi Dan. Wow what a brilliant job Dan. You have every right to blow your own trumpet. Wish I had your ability, you must get a lot of pleasure from the restoration. Your dad would be proud of you bringing the 08 back to life. Hopefully my 08 isn't as bad as that your repairing. Fantastic job buddy, enjoyed seeing another one of the oldies given another life.😀 Stay safe buddy. DELPH JUNCTION (Pete)😮

Excellent repair there Dan, I have a green wrenn 08 that my dad bought me new for a present back in the 70's much to my dismay it stopped working and it's been in its box ever since, inspired me to look at repairing it as like you it has great sentimental value

Try a stay alive capacitor. It may well solve the running issues. This is far and above your best ever video and with a lovely back story. Cheers

I did look at that, but there is so little space inside the body, thats why i had to use a tiny chip. The body is crammed with chassis!

Great vid, shouldn't there be a ball bearing top and bottom of the armature shaft?? Didn't see you fit any?
@dansmodelrailways7886 Жыл бұрын
Yes the ball bearing is there in the top.

THE COST TO DO IT IS IRRELEVANT ,, WOULD IT BE CHEAPER TO BUY A WORKING ONE ? MORE THAN LIKELY , BUT SPENDING CASH DOESN'T FORWARD YOUR SKILLS OR GIVE A SATISFYING SENSE OF ACCOMPLISHMENT

What you could have used to clean the body would be your wife's ELECTRC toothbrush...with some white toothpaste applied. You'd be surprised how well it works !
