This video shows that even the books we love and consider "perfect" have their flaws, and that's okay. In fact, it's these imperfections that make them real and relatable, reminding us that nothing is truly flawless-yet still worthy of our admiration

Their shared pain while hating on the first 2 books devolving into them switching between pain and glee hearing the other trash on red rising or wheel of time is perfect. 10/10

I just want to thank you guys! I’ve always wanted to start reading fantasy but felt it was too overwhelming. I had only read LOTR in university, but never felt quite sure where to go next. Thanks to you I’ve read the first three Mistborn books and I’m halfway through Oathbringer, with Hyperion and Sword of Kaigen waiting in my TBR once I finish Wind and Truth. You are awesome! Love your friendship, reminds me of me and my best friends. Keep at it!!

I agree 💯 on the “Way of Kings.” It’s the last Sanderson book I’ll read. I don’t want to become locked in thrall into Cosmere universe, like a sapper in “The Will of the Many.” Life is too short.

I love this because it shows that even though you absolutely loved these books and would likely rate them highly, you can recognize what other people might not like about them. But that doesn't take away from your enjoyment. No gatekeeping. No yucking anyone's yum.

I'm in the middle of reading Endymion right now, and when Rich read the first sentence of Hyperion... damn. Dan Simmons must actually research what he wrote previously while writing his later books lol. I completely forgot about anything before the 7 pilgrims boarded Ygdrassil and started telling their stories.

I really want to hear your guys' take on the Ender-verse/Shadow-verse, particularly Rich's opinion since he seems to mention EG more often. I _really_ want to hear what you think about the last book lol. ***SPOILER ALERT*** It wasn't just a bad ending. It was disturbing how terrible it was. He didn't "write himself into a corner" like he kept saying. His lazy ass just didn't feel like coming up with anything clever. It tainted the entire series for me unfortunately.

I legitimately hate the lord of the rings books, I read the hobbit and the fellowship of the rings. Outside of Bilbo and Sam, all of the characters are the same, they just know different things. Also Tolkien pontificates on the grass while skipping dialogue and lore.

This series definitely hasn’t been my favourite. I’m not getting much enjoyment from what are effectively made up opinions, and this episode especially felt more on the line of spoiling books than normal. And on a completely separate note, I hate this podcast,(I love this podcast.) It’s just two American dudes chatting a bunch of rubbish about British men. British men are cool. I would know. For I am one of them. Britsplaining is what the world needs! (not really.)
@2ToRamble4 күн бұрын
Will be super careful about straddling that line - let us know what seemed spoilery in the future and we’ll keep watch, rly want to be careful about that!
@rextitan4 күн бұрын
@@2ToRamble I've not read most of the books in this video yet, so I can't be sure if i'm right, but the depth of discussion on Hyperion and its individual stories seemed close to the line for me, and also the wheel of time section seemingly went quite deep in specifics. I don't know how much of a spoiler it actually is but from an uninformed point of view, "the chosen one is actually going to doom the world" seemed like a big thing to just throw out there in open discussion. I do want to be clear, i still had fun with this episode, it just wasn't batting among the best for me this time. Have a good new year guys!

@@rextitanDon't worry about TWoT part. That's actually the general premise for the story, and you find that out pretty early in the first book.

I gave up on The Wheel of Time after reading The Eye of the World, so my perspective on the entire series is very limited, but as far as I'm concerned, you did a good job hating on it. Though you didn't emphasize enough how bad the characters are (in The Eye of the World there are only three types of characters - boring ones and annoying ones).
