This mech is my favourite. Never have i seen a GM sweat so much as when going against a group with a gorgon! Build a high save target and watch the GM rethink their life as hostile tech attacks become high risk, as you constantly interrupt with hilarious reactions, and then fire of your core power to just ruin their day. So much fun. My team always cheered when they heard a gorgon was joining the mission :)

Tortuga and Gorgon have an extreme level of synergy, you basically only need to reach the enemy, after that they get shot in every possible course of action.

I honestly feel like this is the mech equivalent of waiting to see your friend get hit first in a fight so you can pop in and beat up someone you've wanted to for a long time so you have the excuse that you were just trying to defending them. DM'S GUIDE TO HORUS MECHS: GORGON The D&D Gorgon is an _interesting_ monster, because in D&D, a Medusa is its own entirely separate thing, which operates pretty much exactly like the mythological version except without the pathos. The Gorgon in D&D is actually much more akin to a completely different monster. Pliny the Elder tells us of the _catoblepas,_ a being that lives down Ethiopia way and is probably in truth derived from encounters with cape buffalo. Hugely heavy to the point that it never raises its head, the catoblepas' stare is instantaneously deadly, and can turn people to stone -- though that is sometimes attributed to its breath, instead. This was a surprisingly evocative and persistent monster, cropping up repeatedly throughout history. Its most recent pre-D&D appearance was when Piers Anthony had one appear in 1977's _A Spell for Chameleon,_ where it had picked up a lot of classical gorgon traits such as snake hair, as well as -- importantly -- scaled skin. D&D is a mess assembled by thousands of people over decades, so it does have a catoblepas monster that shows up sometimes. But it also has a Gorgon, which is an iron-scaled bull with petrifying breath, and which you can also draw a fair number of connections to the Gorgon mech from (though mostly identical or highly similar inspirations as the Medusa-model classical Gorgons). Unlike many of the other monsters I've talked about, however, the Gorgon is completely nonsapient, purely an animal, and as such I'd say the bulk of the inspiration goes to the classic model here.

It took me a while to warm up to the Gorgon, but playing one in an LL6 oneshot brought me around on it. Just park what is effectively a blast 7 zone No Fun Allowed Zone over your frontliners, then maintain unblinking eye contact with your GM as you shred every striker on the board the second they do anything.

This seems like the kind of mech that would get banned for making the game unfun for everyone except the Gorgon Player. Every turn would just be "Alright the enemy- REACTION! ... Okay I'm going- REACTION! ... Could you please sto- REEEEEAAAACTIIIOOOOOOOOONNNN!!!!!!!!!!" Similar thing happened in an MTG Commander game I was in where 1 Player in a 5 Player game basically ground the game to a halt by taking 15 reactions every turn. dragged the game out for 4 hours and he ended up losing because everyone just targeted him so we could get on with the game. TLDR Builds that focus on taking boatloads of Reactions are inconsiderate to the other PCs and the GM. Great video, btw. :)

Gorgon is definitely a mech that doesn't work in PbP or text chat games for that reason, it's basically designed for in-person gaming. The flip side, of course, is that once Gorgon shows up for real it's going to get exactly that response. Even if the GM doesn't outright ban it, there's all kinds of mechs--Napoleon, Goblin, Iskander--that he can bring onto the field that can just put it in the Hurt Locker.
