Are swim tests not a thing in the UK? I remember getting really annoyed as a kid b/c anytime I wanted to do anything at a waterpark or public swimming pool where I'd potentially be exposed to even chest deep water I would have to do at least one or two swim tests and get these wrist bracelet things. It's not bad at all of course and only really takes a few minutes at most, but as a kid you're just so eager and anxious to go have fun as soon as humanly possible and it would just feel like a speedbump,

I think they do that now. Where I’m from all 8-9 year olds go to swimming lessons with their schools once a week
@joedorben35043 жыл бұрын
@@March1534 swim lessons are one thing, swim tests are like where at a swimming pool every kid has to swim across the width of a pool and back in front of a lifeguard (or something similar) to show that they know how to swim, and then they get 'approved' with a little wristband thing. If a kid doesn't have the wristband then the lifeguards won't allow them to go in the pool or on the inflatable obstacle course things at all

I think swim tests are mostly an American thing! Here in Germany we dont have them either, but when I went to the US for an exchange year they made me, a wholeass 15 y/o, take one. I mean fair enough bc even at that age there are people who can't swim as not everyone gets taught how to, but I almost failed it bc they didnt allow me to do breast strokes? Even though thats the safest/ most navigatable swimming style and I for the life of me can't do freestyle hdhwjwkwlw.
