I enjoy the freedom. I have taught my grandkids about being creative and enjoying art. We visit and glue, it’s so easy and fun! My 6 yr old grandson said he likes doing this more than watching tv! Hallelujah!

Makes me very happy to hear that I'm not the only one who can continue on a project indefinitely. Each time I say in done, the next time I come across it,I add more, and that's not only in journals, I do that even on paintings, mixed media, dolls..until I gift it or sell it, nothings ever finished in my eyes lol

You used a large ring and had some art work on it. Where do you get those rings? I watched you show all the ways of keeping what you store be a box to tin. . Boy I learned a lot. I have small space like you are going to have with the video of you down sizing. I taught myself to sketch as well. I also like to draw tree trunks. I have know reason or rhyme. I love trees without them we need the oxygen to breath. So far I like what you say. Be free and dabble into what you enjoy. Grandma here.

For goodness sake, I have a drawer full of punches that I've accumulated and yet seldom use, and here you are giving me an awesome idea for doing something worth them and my never ending stack of catalogs and magazines! i will never get through harvesting all that I have, so the punch idea is great! and I also love the long arm staple idea. I've been itching to do a trashy junk journal so I can practice some of my mixed media techniques. Now I can just whip one together and go to town. Love this, Marguerite! Thank you!💗

I have a long arm stapler and never would have thought to use it this way. I am so glad to have found this idea. I was actually trying to decide if I wanted to give my stapler away since I am not making little books for my kids to work in like I did when we first started homeschooling. I always like finding anew use for something.

Cool! I'm glad I got you thinking about that stapler again. It's a pretty useful tool :-)

I just found your channel. I absolutely love, love love this video. You are very different from the other junk journal videos I've watched. I like the idea that there is no sewing. Using the whole box was genius. Thanks for sharing this technique.

Just wow! The book pages are beautiful as is and then the added items / paint, etc just add so much. You have a really great eye! And stapling the signatures just seems like it would make the process so much easier! TFS! I'd love to see more of this journal!

Great idea to staple so long as the margin gets well covered, protect from the sharp edges if the staples get raised over time.

I enjoy making both types as well but there is a lot of freedom in making a journal where there is no theme and no pressure. I appreciate this video a lot. It's in my "comfort zone". Not even sure I can explain what that means. Do you ever consider having crafting meet ups or classes or tutorials in the Bay Area Margarete? I especially like your use of collage. Thank you for sharing via your video channel.

I got excited when you said you used a long arm stapler to put this journal together. and the fact that you said it is very easy. I do have a long arm stapler but have never used it. Wonder if you have or would consider doing a tutorial on how this is done! 😀

Thanks, Della. I've been adding quite a lot to this book in the last few weeks. Let me add a bit more and then I'll do a follow up video on it. There I can do a tutorial on how to get the pages stapled in.

I enjoyed seeing the process you use to create your junk journal. However, what is it used for? I am used to making junk journals that are used to write in. I've never seen this type of journal before. I really should look at more KZbin videos like yours! I can see where this type of journal is great for using up all the bits and pieces I have laying all over my desk.
@MargareteMiller7 жыл бұрын
Hi Lizzie, What is it used for? It's going to be an art journal; I'm using the word "art" loosely here. It could be a collage journal, or a paint journal, or a combination. I made a video on making an art journal using junk mail you get in your mailbox everyday, and it will be something similar to that. Have a look if you haven't seen it yet. Both of these types of journals are so satisfying to make, in my opinion :-) kzbin.info/www/bejne/eaWxeI2vfMyioJo

Could you do a process video of you putting together the front and the back plz
@MargareteMiller7 жыл бұрын
Hi Rose, It seems I forgot to mention the covers all together, didn't I? For this one I used a cracker box that I kept intact, for the most part. The front, spine and back are the box, in one long piece. I only cut one panel off the side of the box, and then cut off the top and bottom flaps. I reinforced the whole thing with heavy card stock on the insides. Hope that helps.

I am trying to make something similar to this journal, and I was wondering how many pages per signature you used? I know it's been sometime since you made this journal, then, how many pages per signature due you usually use currently when making a journal?
@MargareteMiller2 жыл бұрын
It depends on the thickness of the paper, and how thick you want the signature to be. I think I used around 10 to 12 pages per signature.

@@MargareteMiller Thank you for your quick response. I found you through another video that I was watching and some kind of challenge was happening. When I clicked on your name to find out about the challenge (which I don't remember now). I was so amazed at your collaging techniques you shared, that I want to learn more, as I'm not very good at collaging. But, I think that replaying your videos will hopefully help me to start collaging with simplicity and a little self faith. Thank you for answering my last comment, I will continue to get inspiration from your videos.
