For reference what jean is talking about: Diluc's reason for hating the knights of favonius was because they cared more about politics than honour. His father always wanted to get into the knights, and was proud his son could, details iffy but a fatui planted something on a wagon they were traveling on and they got ambushed. Everyone on that cart died and diluc's dad used a delusion to protect diluc, he died still but diluc was saved. Later when he explained the story to the knights, they wanted to cover it up because they didn't want to be one uped by a business man, this made Diluc understandably very angry and he quit his lead position there because he doesn't want to associate with them anymore, this is also evident in diluc's quest where the knights don't want the people to rely/look up to anyone but the knight which is why there trying to uncover his identity. Don't quote me on this but im pretty sure when jean took charge, she said she wanted to change the ways of the knights and at least try to make up what happened to diluc.

Diluc's father dies after protecting Mondstadt, but the Knights took the recognition because they said it would destroy their reputation, if a "mere businessman" saved them. Kaeya also admitted that he was sent as a traitor, but Kaeya actually came to love mondsadt while he was adopted by Diluc's family. Diluc is saddened by all of it, so yeah
