I can relate… I’m 32, but I’ve felt as though I were in my mid-40s since I was a teenager, both mentally and physically… I really hope your healing journey goes well. Keep trying to educate your system and pay attention to its natural impulses, as she says. This is a great resource you have found.

Hey Irene .. everything you spoke about here truely resonates! .. After contracting a mosquito borne virus which triggered EBV as well as suffering long covid, I had no idea how someone who was once so fit and healthy could become someone so tired, unmotivated and unsure of life itself. Thank you so much for all of the time you put into your videos. You truely are an angel sent by God!

@@IreneLyon I learned a lot about the nervous system since I am apparently damaged by long term use of anti anxiety drugs. They damage the brain and CNS. I am tapering off the drug. I believe my nervous system was already damaged since early childhood and that the drug, evil drug, made it even more fragile. I am 61 yrs old and alone, in terror, severe pain and no sleep. I need help. Would your pay course be able to help me? I am barely hanging on. I live in Ontario. I am not computer savvy, but my son could help navigate.

@@mandymonroe6295 There is some incredible content in the paid programs that can provide some great education and some tools to start you down your nervous system healing process. I would suggest starting off with the 21 day program and taking your time. We often want to rush it to get better but we also don't want to overwhelm our system. So great that your son can help you navigate. The online world can be intense sometimes! It might also be worth seeing if there's someone in your area who does this work one on one. Makes sense. I had stress and been the "weird" kid all my live. But when a bike accident happened my muscles have not been able to bounce back. Sice then they are tense. And i can't stretch them. All kinds of therapists have worked with that issue but it remains. After another no-go in another area of live this happened too. It seems that way my life became Limited area by area. That's useful. Thank you so much. Knowing this helps me to make doable steps and it will help me to communicate my needs better. To care better for me. 🥰

That is so cool that you came up with that. I was a little confused about this stuff, when i had a breakdown, i was wondering why i'm so broken and feeling bad. And when i start listing the things that happened to me i was shocked, it was all traumatic. And it took one more traumatic event, to spill the cup. I'm grateful that i'm very good in knowing what is wrong and what caused this suffer and feelings. But your videos are helping me polish this understanding. Thanks.

Hey Battle Hymn ... YES YES. We can totally heal. Granted we are keen and curious and want to. This is what I help people with. You can learn more about what I do on my site: www.irenelyon.com I'd recommend starting with my 21-day nervous system tune-up program. That is what happened to me. Stress, trauma, stress, trauma...and when a very special dog died, I had a breakdown. Thankfully someone noticed and found me a sponsor (I had no money myself for it) to help me get some therapy (I used EMDR therapy) or I quite likely would not be here to write this. I wish I knew this before having to take medication that harmed me more than anything. I’ve done CBT but doesn’t help much, cuz I feel is suppressing, and not dealing with the real problem. I want to heal my brain and have a normal life like I once did. What would you suggest is the best therapy/ies for panic disorder and PTSD? Thank you in advance! 🙏✨

I think I was born anxious plus having a very abusive childhood and of course this played through life . Over the years I’ve experienced much grief , heartbreak . Three years ago I ended up in hospital where my body completely shut down , I had complete paralysis, speech difficulties , temporary blindness and deafness . Three years later I’m up and about walking talking , hearing and seeing , although I’m unable to work due to fatigue .I have a condition called Functional Neurological Disorder which is an umbrella term for many symptoms which effects the nervous and brain function . At the moment I’m very stuck because now anxiety behaves a different way now to the point I’m exhausted and have seizures which are titled NEAD . Any guidance would appreciated . Be blessed

Sometimes if a person has been exposed to extreme abuse trauma events thru put there hold life there entire system can remain in a state of hyper viligance due to the amount of years they were exposed to abuse events so sometimes no amount of counselling can put that person's system back into homeostatic state

@IreneLyon
@IreneLyon 6 жыл бұрын
Complex trauma can be a challenge to work with, but I feel (and have personally found) that through this nervous system work (specifically through Somatic Experiencing and Kathy Kain and Stephen Terrell's work) that people in this state can find better regulation, more capacity and tools on how to be with the states they find themselves in. They may not ever be in a homeostatic state but they do find they can live better lives. Nicole - Team Lyon Moderator

Why isn't there some kind of surgery on our brains to stop the access release of adrenaline and cortisol...? Like can we have surgery on our brains to turn off these responses...?
@teamlyon3109
@teamlyon3109 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Anna Drake, Seth here from Team Lyon. Great question! Yes, I can understand the appeal of a surgical approach but there are a lot of problems with that. For one, we really don't want to mess with the structures of the brain unless absolutely necessary, and also it's not the brain that is the problem. It is the autonomic nervous system that is sending the inaccurate signals of threat TO the brain, which then signals the endocrine system to release the appropriate chemicals, and that signalling system is WAY too complicated to be able to address surgically. Fortunately none of this is needed, as with somatic trauma work we can rewire these pathways so that they are no longer signalling threat, when no threat is there - that is the fundamental issue. Finally, we NEED our stress responses to survive in real, honest-to-god survival situations. We just don't want them firing away when there is no actual danger, hence the need for somatic trauma work.

This can certainly be a challenge kathleen. You've shared elsewhere that you've made great progress in time. Team Lyon I thought I was making progress but I just keep learning More. The Unworthiness thing and the Safe Place are two things I have got to have corrected before I can get well. Forgiveness is just not enough. I just keep having to relive the Trauma with every abuse my children keep giving me. I had my husbands children and they hate me as much as he did and the meanness goes on. There is Nothing I can do to please them. If this has been my karma for something..I can’t go on. How do you know when karma is served? I don’t understand because I have never had anything but good intentions for my family. I was a very responsible mother and loved them..helped them and gave them freedom and encouragement to be themselves. I cooked and baked and sewed for them and supported my husband and children in all their activities. This is such a puzzling thing to me. I so appreciate your help finally understanding better what I must do to get better. I have been in pain for 30 years now. I am so weary.

@teamlyon3109
@teamlyon3109 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Pablo Ravizzoli, Jen here from Team Lyon. You can become a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner (SEP) by completing a 3-year training program the Somatic Experiencing Training Institute (SETI). Irene is an SEP as am I and may members of Team Lyon. People from a range of helping professions become SEP's - healthcare workers and counselors and bodyworkers (including PT's) and coaches and more. Irene may also be developing a professional training program that integrates SE other modalities. If you're interested in finding out more, you can email support@irenelyon.com. traumahealing.org
