This teenager suffered a traumatic brain injury which was discovered when he was four days old. He had two intraventricular brain hemorrhages which developed into post hemorrhagic hydrocephalus with ventriculoperitoneal shunt placement.
This means that the hemorrhages at birth caused scar tissue to form all over his brain. This scar tissue prevents the cerebral spinal fluid from absorbing and draining the brain properly.
Watch as this teenager describes himself and his aspirations for the future.
The purpose behind this project is to build empathy and understanding for children with special needs. It also serves to connect families who share similar situations.
