Күн бұрын

In this video, Matthew discusses the challenges of the slow travel lifestyle, including packing and moving every month. He shares insights and strategies for making travel days more efficient and less stressful. He also explains how their minimalist approach to possessions has made packing and moving easier, and how involving their children in the process helps them feel a sense of belonging and contribution. Despite the challenges, Matthew finds value in the slow travel lifestyle, including the opportunity to experience new places and things that they would not otherwise get to see.

Interesting, sounds expensive but its definitely a unique experience

So, you would think it would be more expensive (and it can be, depending on how you do it), but our AIRBnBs end up costing less than what rent costs in most parts of the US. Add onto that: we don't pay for our utilities (water, electricity, gas) or our wifi. Obviously our travel costs us more than it would have otherwise, but we find that it comes close to even....but with the added benefit of getting to visit lots of places!

We are in Michigan right now! We'll be in this part of the country until the end of the month, and then we head west (New Mexico, Colorado, and then Washington for a wedding!).

@@SchaeferFamilyAdventure fun! I went to grad school in Michigan, but never made it up to the UP for cherry season. Always wanted to!

We wont be here for cherry season unfortunately, but it is gorgeous this time of year! All the cherry trees are in blossom (we aren't quite in the UP, but close enough to make trips up).

Haha! It depends on how you count "on the run." We haven't lived in any location for longer than a year since 2019. The month to month travel started in January.

@@SchaeferFamilyAdventure that's the great thing about Peter butter and honey... it's not perishable like other sandwich fillings! I once read that Julia Child always had a peanut butter and honey sandwich in her purse in case of emergencies!

The bread can obviously go bad, but youre right! The honey and peanut butter make the sandwich useable for potentially more than week!

White lines; you cannot cross a solid white line, a broken white line you can. Buy a copy of the Highway Code, it's not expensive and will explain everything, ymight e using it retrospectively. Speed limits; in all towns 30mph, changing to 20 in Wales, usally marked, but regular street lights in a built up area means that town speeds apply unless overridden by other signs. On all other roads except motorways and dual carriageways, 60 mph, there are many roads where doing 60 would be incredibly stuoid, but you are supposed to use your discretion, unless overridden. Motorways and dual carriageways 70 mpp unless..... Follow what other drivers are doing. in Europe generally, drivers tend to let vehicles from non priority roads merge with traffic when road conditions are bad on a 1 to 1 basisans allow room for vehicles to turn into them. This speeds traffic flow much better than demanding your rights i will quickly mention Box Junctions, thee are yellow boxes on junctions and it is illegal to enter one if you cannot leave it, generally forcing you to do what you should be doing in the first place

What happened to the house that I thought you were renovating, or am I getting you mixed up with someone else?

That was us! We ended up selling the house, actually. We didn't quite get it all finished up, but we were able to sell for a profit anyway, thanks for asking!
