I visited Italia for 11 days in November! Loved it! I felt at home and by the time I got to Roma, I did NOT want to leave! I cried on the plane returning to the U.S.! It made me quite tearful if I'm honest, your obvious affection for the country is quite amazing. I loved the bit with the doggie at Pompeii, exactly the sort of thing i would do ! I visited and stayed in Castellamare a couple of years ago and loved it. I also visited Pompeii, Capri and Sorrento, an amazing country. I have just come back actually from the food capital of Italy, Bologna. I don't know if you have been there, but it's a brilliant place to visit ! Lovely people, superb food markets, lots of old buildings, amazing food and it's not touristy at all ! Highly recommended. Anyway, enjoy, and keep up the good work ! I am actually from Castellammare di Stabia, but I grew up in Canada. Stabia has a short a, not long. It's like 'Staub - ia' not 'Stabe - ia'. My uncle used to sell homemade gelato along the beaches. I recall the football sized lemons he used. Many of my relatives still live there

I'm very happy you do liked Naples. You've seen only the main "touristic part" of the city, there are tons of things to see. If one day you will back to Naples, visit Castel Sant'Elmo: this castle is situated on the top of the highest hill of Naples and you can see the entire city 360°, the view is just amazing. I'm glad to see that everyday more and more people come to visit my city. An old proverb says: "Vedi Napoli e poi muori" that translated means "See Naples and die". P.S. Please don't eat pizza with the fork, all the Neapolitans eat pizza folded with hands. :D A hug from Naples! :)

I know exactly how you feel! It's tough to figure a way to stay, but you have to keep trying. I can probably teach summer camp for a while, but it's only two months out of the year! It pains me to leave and I spend the rest of the year dreaming of what I'll do once I'm back. It's like my life is in hibernation until my feet hit the ground in Florence. Oh there are so many issues about teaching and working in Italy! Even if I have to keep coming for summers only for years I will, but you can't give up the ship, you know?! Keep the dream alive!

I know what you mean about feeling to belong in a place but the restrictions are so hard ... I am Italian and in 2014 I moved for a while in Australia and I've wanted to stay as long as I could , unfortunately I had to leave . I've been to Naples four years ago (how time passes) but it was for a couple of hours and I didn't have the time I wanted to explore it for good. I really want to go back as soon as possible and seeing your video reminded it to me. Also the archeological site of Pompei was amazing, wasn't it? We have a "da Michele " pizzeria in Rome too, they oppend a store here recently, but pizza doesn't cost 4€ and I don't know if pizza tastes the same as in Naples but it's very very good.

Ciao! I totally feel all the emotions how you described Italy and that you even feel joy when you are just walking down the street or do an entire conversation in italian! I feel all that tooo:) Italy makes my heart so full❤️ two years ago I studied for half a year in Rome and ever since i came back home, to the Netherlands, I just feel that there is a part of myself missing. In september I am going to study again for half a year in Italy, in Siena, and I am planning to stay in Italy then:) I guess for me it is easier to stay there because I live in Europe, so we are free to stay or work anywhere in Europe. But don't let the visa stop you! Fill in all those hundreds of papers, it will be worth it! I hope to see you in Italy one day:) and btw you were really brave to walk with your camera like that in Napoli:p but good you did, so we had some amazing footage haha. Xoxo Eline
