I absolutely love Arnhem and Nijmegen. I spent a whole summer living in Arnhem a couple years ago and absolutely fell in love with the place. I really miss the the place and can't wait to go back sometime.

This was a great video - thank you! I am especially glad to hear you advising people to take care in the parks and not feed the animals, etc. The Sierra Club. a large nature organization (hiking, camping, etc.) in the USA, has a principle they teach anyone who goes on their hikes, "Leave No Trace." Leave nothing, take nothing.

I'm glad you thought it was useful; people can be incredibly stupid and dumb sometimes. You'd think that keeping your distance from wild animals would make complete sense, but not for some people apparently. I'm glad the Sierra Club also says to leave no trace, in that way we can all enjoy nature :)

I have a question. My last name is Coykendall. It was changed from Kuykendall, and that was changed from Koekendall, or chicken valley. I see there is a Koekendall park in Doetinchem. Finally, my ancestor, Jacob Luur Koekendall came from Wageningen. I am traveling to the Netherlands in a couple of months and I wonder how I might look up this ancestor. Are there old records and where would I find them? The second question is: My ancestor was actually Jacob Luur (son of Luur) and the Koekendall was added. Do you know, was this common for people to add their town of origin as their last name. I know these complicated questions, but any ideas you have on how to see if I can find any more about this ancestor. Thanks!!!

Hi there, good stuff. Can I ask what is the average rent in Gelderland for a couple?
@TheDutchcountryside
@TheDutchcountryside 2 жыл бұрын
Hi! I’m glad it was useful! It’s pretty difficult to answer that as it differs from city to city, town to town and village to village. Nijmegen and Arnhem, etc. are generally most expensive as they are the main bigger cities. I would suggest you to check out places in the province and then head to funda.nl to get a general idea on the housing prices (generally rent is a few hundred euros more expensive than a mortgage every month, but then you will still get a bit of an idea)
