I was so happy to find that Rio Rancho was as affordable as it is. I was able to get into a luxury home by D.R. Horton in Rio Rancho and I love it here, there is so much to do and see here. I am a photographer and i love it so much. Stunning night pics here.

then you must be filthy rich. cause nm has the 5th highest rate of child support fees and it has a lot of unemployment. i would compare rio rancho to like Bakersfield CA when it comes to affordability.

The North East heights of Albuquerque and Rio Rancho are 40 to 50 miles apart. My sister moved there in late seventies.......really long drive

With all of that open land in Sandoval County why are so many of the homes in RR built on such tiny plots? It's like Queens County, NY.

I'll forever wonder why Albuquerque and Rio Rancho aren't huge already. Really the perfect area. Great weather, excellent food, beautiful scenery, etc. But people are leaving in droves and the city continues to be rather squalid. There's something about it that resists change at any cost.

I moved from New Mexico to Texas and it’s so much better here, In rio rancho the schools are terrible drugs everywhere and the violence is terrible. And the people are always uptight.

The first thing I saw on my drive into Rio Rancho was a stripped down car. Soon after, I had a hispanic man just verbally blast me on my first trip to a market (no real reason--he said he "hated whites"). Laundry disappeared from the washing machine at my apartments. An apt that didn't even have fire alarms. It only took me a little more than a week to buy out my lease. I had come there to do free therapy and addiction treatment for the community after finishing my master's degree. Will never come back.

I was born and raised here really nothing going on young people just smoke dabs and play video games, a lot of the schools are abysmal and our golf course has now been abandoned for 6 years with nothing to show for it, if you wanna see the desert or film a documentary I’d recommend coming to visit but honestly you don’t want to live here. It gets really old living here man.

Rio Rancho will become the third city in New Mexico to exceed more then 100,000 people before the year 2020. Albuquerque is the largest city of New Mexico with about 600,000 people, followed by Las Cruces with a population of 120,000 people, then Rio Rancho with a population of more then 100,000, and then Santa Fe, New Mexico's State Capitol and the population of 85,000.

I'd love to retire there but sinkholes are so common in most parts of NM, says the USGS, AND will get worse due to human-induced topical and subsurface development and other man-made disturbances-especially if development proceeds as aggressively and as extensively as RR planners and developers seem bent on doing. And there's no way to predict when these events will happen. Even if you're willing to spend $6K to $8K to have the land plot or home under it that you want to buy professionally evaluated by licensed geophysicist-and some 500 feet around it-there's no why to know if this will happen to you on any of the roads. kzbin.info/www/bejne/bHPPg6eLf7N-d5I kzbin.info/www/bejne/jYXOdYSjmdGVhcU kzbin.info/www/bejne/pHbKlJxofKtjrK8 kzbin.info/www/bejne/raqylYKvlNOWetE Similarly, this is what happens when pipelines are installed most likely without any prior subsoil content analysis and/or cavern ceiling tests. kzbin.info/www/bejne/qaLHiXSbdrl0nas tucson.com/news/national/sinkhole-swallows-two-story-building-in-this-wild-video/video_d7f33040-fc7c-5d2c-8aba-58eff07b63c6.html

Built a home here back in the 70's. No one around. All of a sudden in 1980, rich rude New Yorkers came in and all went to hell. They gobbled up all the land, incorporated and that was the end of beautiful "Kings Ranch" and Majestic easy going New Mexico. life style. Money hungry "Corporate America" Destroys everything in their path without regard for the environment. I hate Rio Rancho.

I'm from Long Island, I'm not rich, I'm somewhat introverted but not rude and I do hope to retire in NM, if not RR than maybe LL-if Valencia ever gets serious about economic diversity and spends more on cops to reduce its insane crime rate. But don't fool yourself because there's loads of greed right in NM, what with insatiable realtors selling countless 2nd and 3rd homes to affluent snowbirds from NY, CA, CT, IL and from around the world. It's call Supply & Demand and it's driving up the cost of housing EVERYwhere, making it impossible for anyone who's not rich to buy the home they want where they want without some kind of mortgage. My only edge is that I have no heirs so a bank may give me a reverse mortgage if I can downpay enough on the house I hope to build in some less fire prone area in NM. I've dreamed about living in the southwest since I was a kid. Whenever I see those landscapes from reruns of Longmire I bust out crying, they are so fucking gorgeous, though I think many were shot on one or more res. But unless I have access to an accredited compounding pharmacy all of my plans are stillborn anyway. Life is such absurd shit perfected by human greed and ego.
