Thank you for showing modern day Raton. My mother's sister and her Husband lived their entire life there. To me it's not Raton anymore, just another town. I remember in the early 1970's working at Canyon Texico, 300 Canyon Drive and now that whole corner is a hotel, the man that wears the star, washing Kaiser Mining trucks in the wash bay, filling cars with gas, washing their windshields, checking tire pressure and checking fluid under the hoods. Their Christmas parade of lights was always fun. I can remember going to summer school and walking from South 5th street clear across the railroad tracks to the elementary school, and on the way home walking past the coal fired power plant, and seeing a pile of coal that was a big mountain of coal as a little kid. I have some great memories and when we visited those relatives on Sunday you had to go to church. I still have the NIV Bible my aunt gave me at 12 years of age, I'm 65 today. The First Babtist Church of Raton, My Uncle was a Deacon for over 50 years. My Aunt was a Sunday school teacher. I remember the building of the Golf course and then the subdivision that went in after where my cousin built a beautiful home. I can remember the sacrifice my uncle made when they built the Texico Truck Stop. The Kolb name was a big name in that old mining town. Rat Town was the original name. Just wished Kaiser Mines should have reclaimed the land they truly destroyed. RIP W. H and Jewell Kolb, you're surly missed, but we will see each other when I get to leave this evil earth. Amen to that, can I go now?

@@stumblinguponserendipity We wish You Tube would give us a gift card or something for every heart we get based on our comments. Thank you as my comment on your channel was my 1st at getting pinned. I've been posting comments since March 2024. I forgot to mention that Raton also has an NRA Whittington Center that is open 24 hours a day.
