The number of foreign visitors who choose to explore Japan by rental car has continued to increase in recent years. Although renting a car is of course a great way to travel freely on your own schedule, driving a car in a foreign country whose rules and customs you are not yet familiar with does come with some degree of risk. So in this video NEXCO-West (the company operating many of the expressways in Western Japan) will provide some useful information for visitors from abroad, such as how to take and make the most of the region’s expressways, as well as the special discount KEP expressway pass.
In this video Sam and Kay will depart from Fukuoka Airport and take the expressway and the Yamanami Highway, one of the best and most scenic routes to the breathtakingly beautiful natural scenery of Mt. Daikanbo, located in the Aso area of Kumamoto Prefecture. At the end of the video we have also included some photographs of some of the best natural sightseeing spots throughout the Kyushu region. So to those of you currently considering renting a car and taking the expressway in Japan, watch closely and take careful note of the information provided so you can prepare for a safe, pleasant and stress-free journey driving through Japan.
*Visitors from abroad must have an international driving permit in order to drive in Japan.
