I have been watching videos and joined the Facebook groups.. I have been a LPN for ten years and have been thinking of this so much due to talking to a lot of travelers coming into our facility. I talked to a recruiter yesterday and started the on boarding process and I am praying this is the right decision. my first facility trained my for like a day or two but honestly they just throw you in. And I have bedside experience with home health and pavilion patients. But learning the computer system and all that sort of stuff they taught me.

Sounds like a Jr. College here in East Tx. All you need is a 43 also to apply for LVN program. Most colleges require a higher TEAS score.

Go for it. I’m scared to. I currently work 12 at night in a LTC. I will start doing traveling nursing on my off days. Just to get a feel for it. I personally feel LVN/LPN should be making over 2,000 or more every week. These facilities can afford it.

I am worried because my LTC experience was for just 1 year before my decade in home health. So you graduated, worked one year in private duty, and the agency was able to place you in LTC? Did they give you a decent orientation at your facility? I was just assuming I'd need more experience in LTC before travel nursing, but you're saying this isn't necessarily so? Travel nursing would be great for you! Yes they were able to place me in LTC. I had LTC facility experience during nursing school but that's it. They honestly just threw me in, I had one day of shadowing but that's it unfortunately but I caught on pretty quickly. I was with CareerStaff Unlimited and yes I was happy with my agency.

Aya Healthcare, Snap nurses, CareerStaff unlimited are great for LPNs. There’s so many out there. Those agencies typically accept 6 months to a years experience

If PA is a compact state you can work in other states that are compact. If not, you have to apply for that state’s license. Sometimes recruiters will help you with that process when getting a contract, it all depends.

You will need minimum a year experience before you can travel. I wouldn’t rush the process though, you want to be comfortable with your specialty when you get travel contracts. Don’t rush the journey, the contracts will always be there. Praying you have a good nursing school experience 🤎
