Just ended a month living in London and loved it. As someone seeing things for the first time, I think I honed in on the things I don't have in my own big city in the US. Love seeing a native try to look at London with eyes like I had.

Hi Joe Long time viewer, first time commenting! Thank you for the videos, definitely inspiring me to pick my camera (X100F) up again. Was in the city (London) a couple of weeks ago for the first time in two years! Loved just wandering and looking up (that’s important!). Was showing my wife this video as she wanted to know what was in the Sky Garden. We were both wondering where you were after that (5:00 - 10:41 of the video), it looks like a nice quiet tranquil place. Keep them coming, they’re much appreciated. Andy

Tourist in your hometown - splendid! I admit I do NOT know enough aspects of my home metropolis. So sometimes I take a new bus line which I haven't taken before or not in a long time (not underground - I need to see the surface and people and views) and let it take me to areas which I normally wouldn't visit. Some pleasant surprises there, especially in the outskirts.

Great video, Joe! I want to come back to London so bad!!! 😭 you’re so right though- I find myself taking for granted the incredible landscape and nature surrounding me here in Northwestern Ontario. But when I stop to really look, or “reframe as a tourist”, it comes alive! Thanks for sharing!

Very nice video, and timely too. I'll be there in two weeks. Can't wait. It'll be the first big trip since the pandemic and London has always been at the top of my list of cities to do street/urban shoots. Hope the weather holds up.

I'm surprised you are still using a camera strap. Especially seeing how much it get's in your way when taking shots, like around 4:23
@joeallam3 жыл бұрын
Some security guards up there can get really antsy about holding the camera up without a strap 😔 For the rest of the day though, it’s still useful to easily have it round my neck
@OlivioSarikas3 жыл бұрын
@@joeallam That makes sense. Thank you for letting me know :) - The strap is the first thing I removed. But I really need to get one of these Backpack Shoulder Mounts to hang it there :)

Portland, OR has great food, great art, great music, and great opportunities for street photography for a smaller West Coast city. And being from the prairies originally, have approached what we call The Core as a tourist as it keeps curiosity fresh.

Nice content. Have you walked the streets and alleys of Shoreditch? We are from America and have made many trips to London. We always go back to Shoreditch and Camden. Personally, I would enjoy your perspective on those areas since you are in London. The shard at night is quite a treat. One small treasure, late afternoon when the light is crashing in is St Dunstan’s in the East, a bombed out church. Is that where you are in the video? Ok, my travel tips for now. Regards…Wayne

I was born in Stratford back in the 70s, which has since been transformed since the London Olympics. London has changed so much in the last 20 years starting with the Docklands and Canary Wharf.
@joeallam3 жыл бұрын
Absolutely! I first came to London in 1999 and have so many photos of the skyline. At that point, Canary Wharf was the only significant area of height and the new Gherkin was the first to break past St. Paul’s height for central. Hoping to revisit those photos in a new vlog soon!

It´s always nice to feel like a tourist in your own country. We do the same here all the time to get away from daily stress .. and we always discover new places. Next time in London I have to go up there to the Sky Garden, too :-)

Hi Joe, Great video as always. I love your view of the city. Makes me wanne go there immediatly. That food at the end looks so fantastic. I have a question about the JPEG-only series. Awesome videos and really inpiring. Been following your channel for a while. Since watching this series, I've trying recipes on my X-H1. Never done that before. :) Are you using your recipes on your X-H1 or just on the X-T4? Would be cool, to see your recipes for the X-H1 too. Keep up these vlogs, they are really great and inspiring.
@joeallam3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching and glad you've enjoyed the JPEG only series! I've applied a few recipes to the X-H1, but to be honest I take the X-T4 out and about over the X-H1 these days. I've had the same recipes on the X100F though, which is the same sensor and has the same configuration options as the X-H1. The main difference to the X-T4 is less granular control e.g. +1 increments rather than +0.5 increments and the lack of Classic Negative film simulation. You can definitely achieve similar results between the cameras though for sure!

Nice work, great to view a fresh approach to seeing and doing rather than the tech that other vloggers are clinging to as that has gotten old fast. The Tate Modern has a nice view from the top (I’ve taken nice shots through the windows which have black outline imagery on them, making for good arty shots. Not sure about the eating experience as I like to keep moving to find new places to shoot! Lots of other tall building places in London as you say, plenty to explore. All the best from the sticks. P

Great Video Joe, Fantastic approach to looking at your own city, the point about food is a good one, putting your self in a travellers shoes it a great idea, I like the images at 03:30 , 03:36 & 03:50, I could see those on a travel agency web site The images at 04:07 is brilliant as is 04:25, The Picture of 05:28 Tower Bridge rocks! I like the Canon R5 Video! Great work!

I should do this in my home city of Manchester. Like you said, when you've lived somewhere for so long (or all your life) you don't appreciate it in the same way.
@joeallam3 жыл бұрын
For sure! It might even be interesting to browse some tourism guides and see what other people are recommending. Chances are, there'll be a few things you might not have done, yourself! Always heard good things about Manchester though; need to get there someday.
