NO NO NO!!!! I have that steamer. The temperature of the water is designed for fabric NOT hair! It will cause the water inside your strands to basically boil and create heat damage with repeated use. There have also been posts about women using handheld fabric steamers instead of Q-Redew and getting heat damage. Please add this disclaimer so women don’t damage their hair :-(

I have heard reports of hair steamers also causing damage as well after prolonged use so 🤷🏿.
@cpalmer76866 жыл бұрын
It's not designed to put directly on the hair like a q redew. It's fine to use at a safe distance . Sometimes I hold it in my hand, sometimes I sit it on the sink and I stand in the path of the steam.
@PackofDiscos6 жыл бұрын
Oh gosh! What if you put a clean, damp sock over the nozzle? Maybe that would cool the steam down enough?
@angelreney36626 жыл бұрын
FusionofCultures I've had one for awhile but I don't put it to close to my hair. I also use filtered or distilled water in mine so I don't get hard water build up inside my steamer.

I have been doing this for over 4 years with a travel steamer I got from Bed Bath and Beyond for less than $20. I deep condition with steam once a week and have never experienced any heat damage or issues. I can tell the difference when I don’t use it and my hair is super healthy.
@chrisaraujo6946 жыл бұрын
Hi from 🇧🇷. I use the steamer for forever years. And I mean it. I have a professional one that stands. But there comes with few considerations: ❌ make sure your hair is low porosity otherwise the cuticles will be opened for good and you will understand what heat damage is; ❌ make sure all your hair is totally covered with a DC or whatever you are going to use before turn the steamer on... Why ❓ Because you don’t want any heat getting on unprotected hair; ❌ don’t use it longer than 3 minutes if straight on hair or 5 min if you are using a plastic cap (that is how I use)j; ❌ wait for your hair to cool down before you manipulate it again; ❌ be careful if you decide to use a vegetal oil if you are going to use the steamer bc you don’t want your hair to be fried. I recommend the plastic cap on this case or place the steamer far from your hair if you want it straight on it. The hair will grow faster I believe its because the steamer helps to open up the porous. I like to apply a little bit of rosemary oil on the scalp before ai use it. Just have few drops on the tips of the fingers and apply it on. I am 51 years old and I have my hair relaxed every 4 months and I always have it trimmed because it grows a lot knowing that were not supposed to grow that way in my age. Well, I hope it helps.

STEAM is STEAM (fact) from dry cleaning to hair care , skin care, steam is steam, steam from a pot with boiling water is to cook , however placing a towel over the water and your head will steam the hair, fact it’s steam!!! Don’t over think this it’s only steam and whatever way you generate it within good sense ; it’s still steam🥰 if it’s a tool then use it with the proper products as you would with any hair care treatment. Thanks for sharing it looks really cool🥰😃 your hair is fabulous darling! And you darling are gorgeous 👍

Most hair steamers are around 650 watts. With that in mind, if anyone decides to use a fabric steamer in their hair I would check the product description. Fabric steamers can range from 500 watts to 1100 watts or above. Researching this can be helpful.

I have a Q-redew and love it. You can use the prongs to get down to your roots. I'm thinking the fabric steamer get way hotter and may damage your tresses esp. since the make up of fabric is different than a hair follicle.

Oh, yea some of yall been missing out. The other steamers are tok expensive so I bought mine some time ago. Its great for deep conditioning too. I just sit mine still and move my hair to the steam since sometimes they spit out water. But my hair loves the steam treat it gets.

OMG I just tried this to refresh my hair and it did a pretty good job. I will do this at least 3 times a week. I don't see any harm in this. Only thing is holding it right so you don't burn yourself because mine drips hot water if it's not held correctly.

I read on Amazon that a woman was using the q-redew on her daughters hair and it damaged her daughters hair. Maybe she was doing it too much and holding it too close? If steam from your shower doesn’t damage your hair I don’t see why a travel clothing steamer would. Steam is steam. But it is heat so you still have to be careful. I use a Joy Mangano My Little Steamer Go Mini to refresh every morning and I love it!! It’s so much better than refreshing with a spray bottle or even a Flairosol mister. I bought 2 from Bed Bath & Beyond and Macy’s’s for 15.99 and 11.99, respectively. I place it on my bathroom counter and sit in a chair and constantly move my head around for coverage. It does get hot so have it a safe distance from you. The q-redew also gets hot so you just have to be careful. I have owned a professional steamer that stood on a stand but it stopped working after about 15 uses. It was $110. The q-redew is not consistent with quality either so to avoid spending so much money again I got a few travel steamers.
@Nyotakikora16 жыл бұрын
Girl!!....great minds think alike. I just went to get one, since I cannot get a full steamer, because I do not have the room..hehe. I have the Q-redew, and it is ok, but the amount of steam at one time is not enough. You can buy additional cartridges, but it's a hassle because they have to heat up first etc. So yes, about to use my travel steamer next wash day, and in between.😊 Again, great video

This is genius. I have the larger one and the travel steamer I use to dewrinkle my clothes. I've never thought to use the mini one this way but now I'm going to give it a try tonight. I have low porosity hair and have been debating on getting a steamer to help with deeper moisture. My steamers are Joy Mangano brand and those have just an on/off switch as well. This is a resourceful method until I get a hooded dryer. I have a bonnet dryer also and I'd love to see if I get the same (or better results) with it.

Ladies don’t fall for the marketing BS , water boils at 100 °C or 212 °F at 1 atmosphere of pressure (sea level). microwaving water can actually cause water to boil at a higher temp but that’s about it. So to all the nay sayer complaining this can give u heat damage. Well those popular hair steamers are all made the same way. There’s no separate temp for clothes vs. hair. Stream is stream!!! Use the knowledge you learned in grade school. Your GOD given sense!! Just as your hair/skin or clothes wouldn’t burn off in a steam room. It’s ok ladies it just water!!

I like that you posted this video as this is what I did to my hair a few months ago but I found after using it three times now it makes my hair very dry so I won't use it again . My hair has a high prosperity and so I guess my cuticles are already open so I don't really need to steam my hair because the steamer opens the cuticle to allow the moisture in and then the cuticle will close by itself if you have a low prosperous hair type so as it's closing my cuticles to keep and Seal the cuticles with moisture that I need..so I will keep trying to close the cuticle with a cold water rinse at the end of my hair wash and deep condition
