But now, I don’t think I will do it. Still, countries can not keep using lockdowns to deal with this virus. Kill your economy just to protect people with comorbidities?? Sounds insane to me!

Did you mean, you wanna book your hotel only when you arrive in the Philippines? I've heard some people have done that. They booked their quarantine hotel only when they got to the Dept of Tourism section at NAIA. However, for us, when we checked in for our flight at our country of origin, the staff asked to see our hotel booking because it's one of their requirements for boarding. Lately though, the gov't has implemented another restriction. This time, all passenger flying in must quarantine for 14 days at a facility provided by the government upon arrival in Manila. This might change again in the next week or so.

And they told me to arrange everything before leaving the quarantine hotel and swabing and pay and print everything so when we are in Manila no problem it will not be difficult for us. Is this the latest procedure? What we previously saw from other vlogger, she did not go through a swab test at the airport. She had the swab test on the sixth day at the hotel where she stayed. I’m confused...please clarify. Thank you...BTW, love your video...

This was from our experience last Dec 2020. Since then, they have changed the rules. From what I heard, they now require a negative swab test result before you are allowed to board your flight to the Philippines. Then you are supposed to quarantine upon arrival in Manila. Then you'd get swabbed on the 5th or 6th day. If you have negative results, you'd be allowed to check out and proceed to your final destination. If positive, you'd have to quarantine longer - until you finish your 14th day. Or, if severe case, you'd be moved to a health/medical facility.

Interesting. Assumably most folks who live in the US have been vaccinated, probably nearly all who travel have gotten the jab. Will the inbound processing become easier for those who have had Pfizer, Astro or JNJ jabs and assumably can't get or give the virus any longer?

Even fully vaccinated, you can still be a carrier of the virus and infect others. You're not 100% immune from the virus but you will probably just be asymptomatic or will just experience mild symptoms - not fatal, in short. Thus, the fully vaccinated passengers are still subjected to swabbing ang quarantine upon arrival. I'm just not sure if they have shorter quarantine time. That's the protocol at this time.

During the time of our travel, the mandatory stay in a hotel was just until you get your negative swab test result. That could be for a day or two. However, with the new restrictions at this time, everyone has to quarantine for 14 days regardless of the result of your swab test. You will be accommodated in a quarantine facility provided by the government. If you wish to stay at a different accredited quarantine hotel, you need to pay out of pocket. There are accredited quarantine hotels for different price brackets.

But they had new restrictions in place that time . It was something like this: "Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, transit restrictions have been implemented. Immediate connecting flights for international to international and international to domestic routes ARE NOT ALLOWED. Only domestic to international and domestic to domestic routes are allowed at this time." I think you must clarify this with the airline. Just to be sure.

That time, we had different rules to follow. We stayed at an accredited quarantine hotel upon arrival until we got our negative swab test results. Then we took a domestic flight to our final destination where we had to quarantine for 14 days. I think they have changed some of it recently. Now, you are going to undergo quarantine right away. On the 5th or 6th day, you'd get swabbed. If negative, you'd be allowed to check out and proceed to your final destination. If not, you have to finish the remaining days of your 14-day quarantine. And will probably get swabbed at the end of it again before getting released.

Eligible travelers are required to undergo a facility-based quarantine while waiting for their RT-PCR test administered on day six (6). Day one (1) starts on the day of the passenger’s arrival. FOR OFWs: OWWA will take care of you. Free swab test and hotel accommodation.

Most of the steps are the same at this time. Except the hotel accommodation. With the new restriction, everyone is required to do mandatory 14-day quarantine in Manila before proceeding to any domestic destination. The government will provide the accommodation. Hi. I'm not sure about Terminal 1. If you meant Terminal 3, I wasn't aware of any BPI bank/atm in the holding area. You may pay with credit/debit card though if you don't have cash in pesos. As to the line, they just usher people as they come along. You're free to sit anywhere within the registration area. Some staff will go around asking people about their paperwork, etc. So if you have complete requirements, you will be processed faster. If you want it as quick as possible, pre-register your swab test, have it printed out along with the other documents, quickly fill out the little form given to you, then try to get the attention of the staff so she/he can direct you to the payment area. Going around looking for BPI bank/atm will surely delay your process. After the cashier/verification, head straight to the swabbing area. It seems to be on a "first come, first served" basis for this part.

Yes, that's the new restriction. Whether your swab test result is positive or negative, you still need to do the mandatory 14-day quarantine upon arrival in Manila.

Normally, US citizens get VOA (Visa on Arrival). At this time though, you have to be under a certain category to be allowed entry. For example, if you're coming in with your ROF wife or kids, you'd get the balikbayan visa which allows you to stay for a year.

I see what you mean. Before Dec 7, all non-Philippine passport holders (even if they are qualified for VOA pre-pandemic time; even if they were former PH citizens; not dual citizens) were required to secure a visa prior to flying to the PH. Last Dec 8, they changed the restrictions. Now, the former PH citizens can enter the Philippines and get the visa on arrival (US enjoys VOA). So we were able to come. However, by December 30, they changed the rules again. Since the US is included on the list of banned countries effective Jan 3, only PH-passport holders coming from the US are allowed entry. I'm not sure until when is this rule. And if you are indeed qualified for entry, you need to quarantine for 2 weeks regardless of your swab test result.

Some people have done it that way at the DOT section. However, we were glad that we booked the hotel prior to our flight because we were asked for proof of hotel booking when we checked in at our airport of origin. As to the transportation, you can arrange that at the DOT desk.

At this time, with the new restrictions, all incoming passengers must quarantine for 14 days in Manila. Before they can proceed to their next domestic destination, if there's any.

Due to some issues/ problems that I've read About padlab registration is it possible to just do it in NAIA? What was your country of origin & airline? Did they require a swab test result in the layover country? As per d immigration section, what documents did they asked you for? 1) Our country of origin for this trip was Spain via Turkish Airlines. Upon checking in, we were asked to show proof of pre-booked RT-PCR swab test. Unless there are more lenient airline staff from other country of origin, pre-booking your swab test is the safer choice. Also, while waiting at the briefing area, I didn't notice any passenger filling out swab test registration form. 2) Our layover was Istanbul, Turkey. We didn't leave the transit lounge so we were not required to do a swab test. 3) If you mean the immigration at NAIA, they will ask for proof of your Filipino citizenship. They didn't ask a lot of questions or any other documents.

I printed the entire email that I got from them after registering for the swab test. It proved more useful and convenient that way when the airline check-in personnel asked to see our documents. If they see just the QR Code, they might get confused.
